Allen Haggard and Gentry Haggard have military (Civil War) tombstones.
Allen's inscription: "CO H 7th KY CAV"
Gentry's inscription: "CO F 31st IND INF".
Gentry Haggard was born (c. 1826-34) at Copper Creek, Rockcastle County, KY, the son of Elizabeth "Betsy" and Martin Haggard. He married Mandy Jane Ferris (born c. 1837 Rockcastle Co.), about 1853 at Brodhead. He died April 29, 1893.
Allen Haggard was born (c. 1836-38) at Copper Creek, Rockcastle County, Kentucky, the son of Elizabeth "Betsy" and Martin Haggard. He married Mary Ann "Polly" Ferris, (born c. 1840-41 in Rockcastle Co.). He died September 15, 1888 in Brodhead, at the hands of his son-in-law, William Powell.
Both brothers, Gentry and Allen served for the Union during the Civil War. Gentry in Company F, 31st Indiana Volunteers under commander Captain Dodd. Allen was part of Company H of the 7th Regiment of Kentucky Volunteers. His commander was Captain Collins.
