Page 174, Oct. 3, 1836, Com. to settle with Jno R Wharton Adm. Return - William James & Thomas A. Iredale two of the commissioners by the preceding term of this court to settle with John R. Wharton adm. of Samuel S. Wharton decd return into court an account of such settlement, which is received by the court & ordered to be recorded.
Page 174, Oct. 3, 1836, Com. to settle with Wm Anderson Exc. Return – Harbert Towns & Edward H East, two of the commissioners appointed by the preceeding term of the court to settle with Wm Anderson Exr of Robert D Huggins relative to his guardianship for the minor heirs of William Homes decd now make report of having so done, which is received by the court & ordered to be recorded. It is also ordered that an account found among the papers of said decedent, exhibiting a return as such guardian & signed by said R D Huggins decd to be recorded.
Page 174, Oct. 3, 1836, Tho R Jennings Physician - The court appoint Thomas R. Jennings, Physician to the jail in this county.
Page 174, Oct. 3, 1836, Jas. Simmons Allowance –The court unanimously allow James Simmons at the rate of fifty dollars per annum for keeping William and Susan Boyd from this date, & it is ordered that the county trustee of this county pay him said sum out of any county money in his hands not otherwise appropriated.
Page 174, Oct. 3, 1836, Com. to settle with B W Drake adm.- The court appoint William J. Drake, David Abernathy & Thomas Heaton commissioners to settle with Blount W Drake as Administrator of John Drake decd. and having so done make report to our ensuing court.
Page 174, Oct. 3, 1836, Com. to settle with J R Garrett Exr – The court appoint William J. Drake, Charles W. Moorman & David Abernathy commissioners to settle with Jonathan R. Garrett as Executor on the estate of Isaac Earthman Sen. decd. & having so done report to next court.

McEwen two of the commissioners appointed by an order of last court to settle with William Ramsey as administrator on the estate of Jacob W. Page 175, Oct. 3, 1836, Jail Com. to repair jail - Ordered that the jail commissioners have such repairs made by putting window sashes in the windows, shutters &c as will add to the comfort and health of the persons during the winter.
Page 175, Oct. 3, 1836, Committee to report about repairs - Ordered that Samuel V D Stout, Joseph B. Knowles & Thomas Calendar be a committee to examine and report to a subsequent term of the court what permanent repairs are required on the jail and the probable cost &c.
Page 175, Oct. 3, 1836, Com. to settle with W G M Campbell Exr - Ordered that Elihu S. Hall Esq., John McIntosh Esq., & John M. Hill settle with William G. M. Campbell executor of John Spence and administrator of Sarah Spence decd and report to the next court.
Page 175, Oct. 3, 1836, M Pearce Guardian Return - Martin Pearce guardian for Mary Jordan returned an account of his guardianship, which was received by the court & ordered to be recorded.
Page 175, Oct. 3, 1836, Com. to divide certain lands - John Thompson, Turner Williams, Henry Crichlow, & John Davis commissioners appointed by and order of the August term last, to partition the land willed by William Perkins decd. to Eliza F. Perkins and Sarah P. Perkins his daughters between James F. May & Eliza F. May his wife and Robert Scales & Sarah P. his wife, made report on oath at September term last of having so done. And Michael Dunn another commissioner now signs said report on oath, which report is received and ordered to be recorded.
Page 175, Oct. 3, 1836, Wm Payne released from entry – Ordered for cause shown to the court that William Payne be released from the appraised value of a certain bay mare taken up by him in the spring of 1834. Entered 11th March 1834.
Page 176, Oct. 3, 1836, L Tinnin Inventory returned – An additional inventory of the estate of Lemuel Tinnin decd was returned into court by Giles Connell his Adm. and ordered to be recorded.
Page 176, Oct. 3, 1836, H Lucas inventory – An inventory & account of sale of the estate of Harriet Lucas decd was returned to court on oath by Arnold Russell her Executor and ordered to be recorded.
Page 176, Oct. 3, 1836, R B Turner allowance – The court unanimously allow Robert B Turner clerk of the Circuit Court of this county fifty five dollars seventy five cents for sundry books purchased by him for said court as per account filed. And it is ordered by the court that the County Trustee pay him said sum out of any county money in his hands not otherwise appropriated.
Page 176, Oct. 3, 1836, Com. to lay off 1 years support for L Williams - The court appoint William Faulkner, Giles H. Page & Thompson Osborne, commissioners to set apart one years provision for Lucinda Williams widow of Christopher Williams decd. and having done so make report thereof to ensuing court.
Page 176, Oct. 3, 1836, H Towns allowance – The court unanimously allow Harbert Towns the sum of twelve dollars and fifty cents for the benefit of Demsey W Jarratt for his attendance on William Hutchison a lunatick 17 days.
Page 176, Oct. 3, 1836, B H Brown allowance – The court unanimously allow Berryman H Brown thirty three dollars eighty seven & a half cents for repairs done on courthouse as per account filed.
Page 176, Oct. 3, 1836, R Payne allowance – The court unanimously allow Rueben Payne thity two dollars and fifty cents for the repairs on the Haysborough Bridge, as per account filed.
Page 176, Oct. 3, 1836, Sally Gamble allowance - Same court present. When the court unanimously allow Sally Gamble Six dollars for keeping an orphan child named Walker for the last six weeks and that she be allowed one dollar a week until next court and that she furnish a suit of winter clothes shoes & hat which will be allowed for her.
Page 177, Oct. 3, 1836, James Marshall will proved – A paper writing purporting to be the last will and Testament of James Marshall decd was produced in open court for probate and proved thus: Jonathan R. Garret and Benjamin Bruce the subscribing witnesses to said paper writing being duly sworn depose and say that they became such in the presence of said decedent and at his request and that they verily believe that he was of sound mind and memory at the time of executing said paper. It is therefore ordered that said paper writing be admitted to record as the last will and Testament of the said James Marshall decd. And Gilbert Marshall one of the executors named in the will came into court and renounced acting as such. And William Marshall the other executor named in said will came into court and qualified according to law, said will requiring that no security be given, ordered that he have letters testamentary.
Page 177, Oct. 3, 1836, John McDaniel will proved – A paper writing purporting to be the last will and Testament of John McDaniel decd was produced in open court for probate and proved thus: William J Thurmond and Henry M Hutton two of the subscribing witnesses to said paper writing being duly sworn depose and say that they became such in the presence of said John decd and at his request and that they verily believe that he was of sound & disposing mind and memory at the time of executing said paper writing. It is therefore ordered that said paper writing be admitted to record as the last will and Testament of the said John McDaniel. Whereupon Polly McDaniel one of the Executors named in said will came into court and gave bond in the amount of five hundred dollars with Henry S. Porch & Henry M Hutton her securities. Ordered that she have letters testamentary granted to her.
Page 177, Oct. 3, 1836, Wm Thompson will proved – A paper writing purporting to be the last will and Testament of William Thompson decd was produced in open court for probate and proved thus: Thomas Moss and Robert Brown the subscribing witnesses thereto duly sworn depose and say that they became such in the presence of said William Thompson and at his request and in the presence of each other & that they verily believe that he was of sound mind and memory at the time of executing said paper. It is therefore ordered that said paper writing be admitted to record as the last will and Testament of the said William Thompson decd. Whereupon Everard M Patterson & John W Thompson the executors named in said will came into court and gave bond in the sum of fory thousand dollars. D F Thompson and W P Thompson their securities and qualified according to law. Ordered that they have letters testamentary granted to them.
Page 177, Oct. 3, 1836, C Lucas bound to Geo H Burton - Ordered that Caleb Lucas an orphan boy of the age of twelve years on the 24th of June last be bound as an appentrice to George H. Burton until he attains the age of twenty one years. Whereupon the said George H. Burton in court here convenants & agrees that he will teach or instruct, or cause to be taught or instructed the said apprentice in the art & mystery of the carpenters trade & give him schooling enough to be perfect as far as the single and double rule of three, and at the end of his apprenticeship give him a good set of tools & fifity dollars in money.
Page 178, Oct. 3, 1836, S Lucas bound to G B Gunter – Ordered that Starlin Brown Lucas an orphan boy of the age of thirteen years on the 5th day of May last be bound as an appentrice to G B Gunter till he attains the age of twenty one years. Whereupon the said G P Gunter in court here convenants & agrees that he will teach or instruct, or cause to be taught or instructed the said apprentice in the art & mystery of the waggon making business - teach or causes him to be caught well as far as the single & double rule of three, and at the expiration of his apprenticeship give him a good set of tools and a suit of good freedom clothes complete shoes hat &c.
Page 178, Oct. 3, 1836, A W Johnson adm of Jno Hobson decd - Ordered that Anthony W Johnson have letters of adminitration granted to him on the estate of John Hobson decd. Whereupon the said Anthony W Johnson in court here gave bond in the sum of twenty thousand dollars with Nicholas Hobson & Joseph Vaulx his securities and qualified according to law.
Page 178, Oct. 3, 1836, Wm Roberts and of A Gresham - Ordered that William Roberts Johnson have letters of adminitration granted to him on the estate of Austin Gresham decd. Whereupon the said William Roberts in court here gave bond in the sum of two thousand dollars with James Condon & Charles Nichol his securities and qualified according to law.
Page 178, Oct. 3, 1836, Wm Hamilton guardian of R T Walker - The court appoint William Hamilton guardian to Robert T. Walker a minor orphan. Whereupon the dail William Hamilton in court here gave bond in the sum of two thousand dollars with Lewis T Clements & John G Clements his securites.
Page 178, Oct. 3, 1836, Ann Lacy bound to Wm McCabe - Ordered by the court that Ann Lacy, an orphan colured girl be bound as an appentrice to William McCabe till she obtains the age of eighteen years. Whereupon the said William McCabe in court here convenants & agrees that he will teach or instruct said apprentice in the art & mystery of sewing and house keeping, & give her such freedom dues as the law allows.
Page 178, Oct. 3, 1836, S Alexander bound to W D Hutton - Ordered that Stephen Alexander an orphan boy of the age of eleven years on the 7th day of this month be bound as an appentrice to William D Hutton till he attains the age of twenty one years. Whereupon the said William D Hutton in court here convenants & agrees that he will teach or instruct, or cause to be taught or instructed the said apprentice in the art & skill of the tannery business.
Page 179, Oct. 3, 1836, Wolf scalps - Malcom Henry produced a wolf scalp and proved that he killed the wolf in this county and that he supposed it to be two years old. Which is ordered to be certified. And it is further ordered that the sheriff cut up said scalp in presence of the court.
Page 179, Oct. 3, 1836, Sheriff to summon a jury - Ordered that the Sheriff summon a jury to ascertain the damage which will be sustained by Alexander Carper in consequence of the comtemplated new road running through his land, & that said jury report to the next court. And it is ordered that the cutting out of said road be suspended until the oming in of said report.
Page 179, Oct. 3, 1836, J G Dunaway petition dismissed - The petition of James G Dunaway presented at last court praying the removial of Samuel P Dunaway as guardian of Sarah A Dunaway unless he should give other & counter security is dismissed. And it is ordered that James G Dunaway pay the costs of this proceeding.
Page 179, Oct. 3, 1836, Comissioners & Revenue allowance - The court allow James N Menefee forty dollars for his services as Commissioner of the Revenue and all the other Commissioners of the Revenue of this county twelve dollars and fifty cents (Except Edwin Dibrell, whose compensation is no yet allowed).
Page 179, Oct. 3, 1836, W Hutchinson discharged from jail - Ordered by this court that William Hutchison who is now confined in the jail of this county on account of lunacy be discharged therefrom.
Page 180, Oct. 3, 1836, A Buchanan will produced & contested - A paper writing purporting to be the last will & testament of Alexander Buchanan decd was produced in open court for probate. Whereupon George Buchanan, Alexander Buchanan & Henrietta Buchanan, minors under the age of twenty one years appeared in open court by their next friend George Goodwin court and moved the court that they be permitted to contest the validity of said will. And thereupon it is ordered by the court that these facts be certified to the circuit court of Davidson County at its next term, viz January Term 1837, and that the original will of said Alexander Buchanan be transferred with said certificate to said court. And in the meantime it is ordered that letters of administration pendente tete be granted Everard M Patterson upon his giving security according to law, which is to cease as soon as issue is determined in the said circuit court.
Page 180, Oct. 3, 1836, Court adjourned - Court adjourned till tomorrow morning at 10.
Page 180, Oct. 4, 1836, State of Tennessee Tuesday morning court met according to adjournment at the courthouse in the Town of Nashville when were present Elihu S Hall Esquire Chairman, & Joseph B Knowles, Enoch P Connell & Martin Forehand Esquires.
Page 180, Oct. 4, 1836, Ira H Owen will produced & contested - A paper writing purporting to be the last will & testament of Ira H Owen decd was produced in open court for probate. Whereupon Robert R Owen a minor child of said Ira H decd by his next firend Eliza A Owen appeared in court and moved the court that they be permitted to contest the validity of said will. And thereupon it is ordered by the court that these facts be certified to the circuit court of Davidson County at its next term, viz January Term 1837, and that the original will of said Ira H Owen be transferred with said certificate to said court. And in the meantime it is ordered that letters of administration pendente tete be granted Benjamin C Owen and William Owen upon their giving security according to law, which is to cease as soon as issue is determined in the said circuit court.
Page 180, Oct. 4, 1836, Sheriff to summon a jury to lay off the dower of K Moseley - The petition of Katherine Moseley by R B Castleman Esquire her attorney was presented to the court praying the court to direct the Sheriff to summon a jury of five freeholders to lay off and allot to her , her dower in a certain tract of land in the county of Davidson on the waters of Little Harpeth; which petition the court grant and order that the Sheriff summon such jury, and that said jury make report of their proceedings to the next term of this court.
Page 180, Oct. 4, 1836, Com to settle with O B Hayes Exr. - The court appoint Elihu S Hall, Smith Criddle, Samuel B Marshall & Edwin H Ewing, them or any number of them not less than two, commissioners to settle with Oliver B Hayes Exr. of William S Brown decd .
Page 181, Oct. 4, 1836, Com to lay off dower for A Buchanan’s widow - The court appoint David Philips, William Ogilvie and John Watson to lay off one years provision for the widow of Alexander Buchanan decd and having so done make report thereof to the ensuing court.
Page 181, Oct. 4, 1836, E M Patterson adm - Ordered by the court that Everard M Patterson have letters of administration granted to him on the estate of Alexander Buchanan decd which letters of administration are to cease as soon as the issue of the contested will is determined in the circuit court. Whereupon the said Everard M Paterson in court here gave bond in the sum of forty thousand dollars with William Ramsey and William Owen his securities.
Page 181, Oct. 4, 1836, S P Dunaway guradian resigns - Samuel P Dunaway guardian for Sarah A Dunaway came into court and resigned his said gueardianship, which resignation the court accept. And ordered that James G Dunaway be appointed guardian for Sarah A Dunaway in his stead. Whereupon the said James G Dunawayin court here gave bond in the sum of (left blank) dollars with (left blank) his securities.
Page 181, Oct. 4, 1836, Lemuel P Montgomery will proved - Benjamin R. Montgomery a brother, and one of the legatees of Lemuel P Montgomery deceased, called upon the clerk of the court, in open court to produce a paper writing date the fourth of March one thousand eight hundred and fourteen, purporting to be the last will and testament of said Lemuel P. Montgomery and the clerk produced the same from among the files of his office and the said Benjamin R Montgomery suggested to the court that the probate of said will made in Lincoln County and endorsed thereon, and the registration thereof of said will in Lincoln County Court, are informal and insufficient, because the said Lemuel R Montgomery decd was not, at the time of his death, nor ever, a citizen of said county of Lincoln and thereupon offered to prove said paper in the court. Whereupon with the assent of the court, he produced John Catron, Oliver B. Hayes, Elihu S Hall, James Campbell, Thomas Claiborne, Robert H McEwen, John Newnan and Robert Farquaharson, citizens of the town of Nashville and credible men who were duly sworn to answer questions touching the execution of said last will and testament.. Oliver B Hayes deposed that he knew John Maze and George C. Witt two of the subscribing witnesses to said will, that he was aquainted with their hand writing and that the signatures of Maze and Witt were in their proper hand writing.. And that he was aquainted with the hand writing of the testator Lemuel P Montgomery and that the body of said will and the signature thereof, are in the proper hand writing of the said Lemuel P Montgomery. Elihu S. Hall deposed the same. Both of last questioned witnesses swore that Maze, Witt and Montgomery are all dead. John Catron deposed that he was aquainted with John Maze and Geroge C. Witt who were attorneys at law and were citizens of Fayetteville in Lincoln Co. and that he was aquainted with their hand writing and that the signatures of Maze and Witt were in their proper hand writing. Thomas Claiborne deposed that he was aquainted with the hand writing of John Maze and that his signature on the will was in his proper hand writing. And that he was aquainted with the hand writing of the testator Lemuel P Montgomery and that the body of said will and the signature thereof, are in the proper hand writing of the said Lemuel P. Montgomery. Robert H. McEwen and James Campbell swore that they were well aquainted with the hand writing of John Maze and that his signature on the will was in his proper hand writing. And James Campbell further deposed that said Maze is dead. John Newnan deposed that he is well aquainted with the hand writing of the testator Lemuel P. Montgomery and that the body of said will and the signature thereof, are in the proper hand writing of the said Lemuel P Montgomery. And the said Robert Farquaharson deposed the he was well aquainted with the hand writing of Robert Buckannon, one of the subscribing witnesses to said will and that his signature on the will was in his proper hand writing and that he is dead. And the said John Catron, Elihu S. Hall and John Newnan proved that the said Lemuel P. Montgomery, the testator, was at the time of his death, a citizen of and resident in the town of Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee and that he had no other residence, and that he was killed at the battle of Horseshoe during the late war; and that James Trimble, Jenkins Whiteside and Thomas McCorry, who are named in said will executors thereof are all dead. And Robert H. McEwen further deposed that the said Lemuel P. Montgomeru was killed at the battle of the Horseshoe on the 27th of march, 1814, and that he the said McEwen assisted in burying his remains.
Whereupon said Benjamin R Montgomery moved the court that the clerk be ordered to certify this probat, to the end that will may be recorded whereon it may be necessary; and it is ordered accordingly.

Page 183, Oct. 5, 1836, State of Tennessee Davidson County Wednesday morning court met according to adjournment. Present Elihu S Hall Esquire Chairman & Joseph Norvell & Wm Owen Esquires.
Page 183, Oct. 5, 1836, N. A. McNairy guardian - The court appoint Nathaniel McNairy guardian of Joseph Hobson, Mary Hobson, Susan Hobson, Narcissa Hobson and William Hobson minor orphans. Whereupon the said Nathaniel McNairy in court here gave nine several bonds in the sum of two thousand dollars each with Nicholas Hobson and Joseph Vaulx his securities.
Page 183, Oct. 5, 1836, E A Owen prosecution bond - Eliza A Owen by her next friend Jabez Owen in court here gave bond in the sum of five hundred dollars with Jabez Owen her security to prosecute with effect the suit in the circuit court wherein the validityof the will of Ira H. Owen is contested, or in case of failure to pay all accruing costs.
Page 183, Oct. 5, 1836, Wm Owen & B C Owen Adms - Ordered by the court that William Owen and Benjamin C Owen have letters of administration pendente tete granted them on the estate if Ira C Owen decd whereup on the said William Owen and Benjamin C Owen here in court gave bond in the sum of twelve thousand dollars with Edwin H Ewing their security.
Page 183, Oct. 5, 1836, Martha Rains will proved - A paper purporting to be the last will and Testament of Martha Rains deceased was produced in open court for probate and proved thus: Felix R Rains and Joseph Pope the subscribing witnesses being duly sworn depose and say that they became such in the presence of said Martha Rains and at her request and in the presence of each other and that they verily believe that he was of sound mind and memory at the time she executed said paper. A codicil to said paper writing was also produced in court and proved thus: Felix R Rains and Joseph Pope the subscribing witnesses to said codicil being duly sworn depose and say that they became such in the presence of said Martha Rains and at her request and in the presence of each other and that they verily believe that he was of sound mind and memory at the time she executed said codicil to said paper. It is therefore ordered that said paper writing be recorded as such will and codicil of the said Martha Rains decd. And Ursula Rains the Executix named in said will came into court and gave bond in the sum of two hundred dollars with Felix R. Rains and Joseph Pope her securities and qualified according tolaw. Ordered that letters of testamentary be granted to her.

Page 184, Oct. 6, 1836, Ann Lacy bound to Wm McCabe indentures cancelled - For cause shown to the court it is ordered that the Indentures binding Ann Lacy a coloured female child to William McCabe at the present term be set aside. And that Churchill Lanier a constable of this court take said Ann Lacy out of the possession of said William McCabe and give her in charge to John Cockrill until next court.
Page 184, Oct. 6, 1836, E A Owen dissents from will - Eliza A Owen widow of Ira H Owen deceased in open court here dissents from provisions the will of the said Ira H Owen decd and claims her distributive share of his estate according to law.
Page 184, Oct. 6, 1836, Comm to lay off support for E A Owen - The court appoint John Olford, John Watson & Thomas Waller commissioners to lay off and set apart to Eliza A Owen one years support for herself and family out of the estate of Ira H Owen decd.
Page 184, Oct. 6, 1836, Allowance - Churchill Lanier a constable proved four days attendance as such at this court and fifty cents ferriages.

Page 185, Nov. 7, 1836, State of Tennessee Davidson County, Monday morning court met according to adjournment at the court house in the town of Nashville when were present Elihu S Hall Esq Chairman, Joseph B Knowles, Joseph Norvell, Thomas Callendar, Wm G. M. Whereupon the former securities of said guardianship, to wit, Turner Williams & Henry Crichlow are released and discharged from all liability.

Page 199, Dec. 5, 1836, Wesley bound to B Richmond - Ordered by the court that Westley and orphan boy of the age of eight or nine years be bound as an apprentice to Barton Richmond till he attains the age of twenty one years. Whereupon the said Barton Richmond in court here gave bond, by which he covenants and agrees that he will teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed the said apprentice.
Page 199, Dec. 5, 1836, Willie Mitchell bound to Martha Mitchell - Ordered by the court that Willie Mitchell an orphan boy of the age of sixteen years be bound as an apprentice to Martha Mitchell until he attains the age of twenty one years. Whereupon the said Martha Mitchell in court here gave bond, by which she covenants and agrees that she will teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed the said apprentice in the art of hackdriving and keeping horses.

Whereupon the said John Bransford in court here gave bond in the sum of five hundred dollars with John Rains his security. Page 199, Dec. 5, 1836, S A E Gregory Admx - Ordered by the court that Sarah Ann E Gregory have letters of administration granted her on the estate of Sarah E Hoover. Page 199, Dec. 6, 1836, State of Tennessee, Davidson County, Tuesday morning December 6th, 1836. Court met according to adjournment at the courthouse in the town of Nashville, when were present Elihu S Hall Esquire Chairman, & Joseph B Knowles & Enoch P Connell Esquires Justices.
Page 199, Dec. 6, 1836, Jurors report concerning the idiotcy of Henry Hite, Anna Hite & E Branham - Thomas J. Whitfield, Jarvis Jones, Martin Forhand, Sullivan W W, John C Porch, Theophiles Fulgham, Andrew Vardin, William Spence, Winson W Fulgham, Thomas Demoss, Isaac Greer & Charles Johnson Jurors summoned by an order of last court to ascertain whether or not Ellen Branham, Anna Hite & Henry Hite be lunatics or idiots, returned into court the following report, to wit.
“December 2nd, 1836. We the Jurors summoned by the order of the county court of Davidson county, at the November term, have this day examined the situation of Henry Hite, Anna Hite and Ellen Branham, and believe them not capable of managing for themselves. Also they are badly sheltered and almost without clothing, and nearly without provision. We also think their land sufficient for their support, if properly managed. We further recommend Theophiles Fulgham and William Roach Sen. as guardians for the above named persons. Given under our hands this day and date above written.”
Which report is concurred in by the court and the said Theophilus Fulgham and William Roach Sen. are appointed guardians of said idiots. Page 200, Dec. 6, 1836, Com to divide Tho Joyce Negroes - The court appoint Wilfred Rains, Robert Buchanan & Blackman Hays commissioners to divide the slaves belonging to the estate of Thomas Joyce decd among the distributees, and having so done make report thereof to our ensuing court.Page 200, Dec. 6, 1836, J R Garrett guardian to …. Buie - The court appoint Jonathan R Garrett guardian to Melinda Buie, Eveline Buie, Franklin Buie, John W Buie & George W Buie. Whereupon the said Jonathan R Garrett in court here gave five several bonds in the sum of twelve hundred dollars each with Gilbert Marshall his security for his faithful gaurdianship.
Page 200, Dec. 6, 1836, Sarah A Bradby bound to Jas B Ferguson - Ordered by the court that Sarah Ann Bradby a mulatto girl thirteen years old in Febrarury next be bound as an apprentice to James B Ferguson until she attains the age of eighteen years. Whereupon the said James B Ferguson in court here gave bone by which he covenants and agrees that he will teach and instruct, or cause to be taught or instructed the said apprentice in the art of house keeping and give her such freedom dues and the law allows.
Page 200, Dec. 6, 1836, Com to settle with J R Garrett Exr - David Abernathy and Charles W Moorman tow of the commissioners appointed by an order of the last court to settle with Jonathan R Garrett Executor of Isaac Earthman decd now make report of having so done which report of settlement is received by the court and ordered to be recorded.
Page 200, Dec. 6, 1836, Order to sell T E Dudley’s Negroes - Guildford Dudley Adm. of Thomas E Dudley decd presented to court a petition representing that there are belonging to said estate two Negroes to wit, a Negro woman namded Cynthia aged about forty five years, and a Negro girl named Mourning aged about six years -- and that there are eight distibutees of said estate and that consequently a division cannot be made amongst said distributees, without first making sale of said Negroes. And praying the court to allow him to sell said Negroes on a credit of six months. The court therefore order that the prayer of said petition be granted and that said Negores be sold by said administrator for the purpose contained in said petition, and report be made of such sale to our ensuing court.

Page 201, Dec. 6, 1836, Danl Buie Will proved - A paper purporting to be the last will and Testament of Daniel Buie was produced in open court for probate and proved thus: George S. Yerger & Churchill Lanier two of the subscribing witnesses to said paper writing, being first sworn depose and say, that they becames such in the presence of the testator and at his request and in the presence of each other, and that they verily believe that he was of sound & disposing mind & memory at the time of executing the same. It is therefore ordered by the court that said paper writing be admitted to record as such will of the said Daniel Buie decd. And John Beatty the executor named in said will came into court and qualified according to law. Ordered that he have letters of testamentary granted unto him.

Page 201, Dec. 7, 1836, Bushrod bound to C J Hill - Ordered by the court that Bushrod and orphan coloured boy twelve years old be bound as an apprentice to Richard J Hill till he attains the age of twenty one years. Whereupon the said Richard J Hill in court gave bond by which he covenants and agrees that he will teach and instruct or cause to be taught & instructed the said apprentice in the occupation of farming and give him such freedom dues as the law allows. And the indentures heretofore entered into binding the said boy Bushrod to John Harriason is cancelled.
