  • August 1778 Deep River Monthly Meeting is established in the western part of about 12 miles from Greensboro in Guilford Co. NC. It  had begun under the jurisdiction of of New Garden MM  and helped establish later MM such as Springfield, Muddy Creek, Deep Creek, Belews Creek, Gum Swamp and HItchcock

  • 24 Feb 1786 John Pitts enters two hundred and fifty acres of Land in the County of Surry on the head branch of Deep River adjoining the County Line that divides Guilford and Surry, Joseph Patterson and Martha Pitts, including Sam'l Pitts improvement.
  • 24 Feb 1786 Simmons Patterson enters one hundred acres of Land in the County of Surry on the head waters of Deep River adjoining David Morrow, Gabriel Jones.

Court orders men to view the road from Hills Iron Works on Elkins , beginning near the old Henderson place, the road that leads from Scritchfield Ford to Shallowford above John Martins near Chesnut Hill - among those called: James Jones, Absalom Reese, Thomas Hadley, Greenberry Patterson, John Martin, Justice Reynolds, Samuel Calloway, Rezia Jarvis, David Crafford, Palmer Scritchfield, Simon Hadle (Hadley) and Thomas Burch
  • 9 Nov 1787 Greenberry Patterson received a state grant of 500 acres on Nov. 9, 1787 (Book C, p. 83). Neighbors of the Pattersons in Surry (Yadkin) County were Simon Hadley, Jacob Ferree, George Hoppes, and Ambrose Bramlett (see Bk. B, pp. 20-21, state to Ambrose Bramlett).

  • 1 Nov 1790  John Law or Lowe of the county of Stokes, State of North Carolina to William Beazley of same. That for and in consideration of the sum of eight pounds current money hath Granted Bargained Sold and Confirmed a certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Stokes bounded on the north fork of beloose Creek at a corner in William Bezley’s own tract, to a stake in Michael Fairs Line.. containing thirty eight acres be the same more or less.   • 12 Feb 1794 Justice Reynolds sells to Jonathan Haines 150 acres on Forbis Creek for 80 pounds. Wits: Thomas Hadley and Abraham Vanwincle. Signed Justice Reynolds.

  • 9 Jul 1794 Commissioners of the State of NC for the sum of Ten pounds for every hundred acres grant to John Pitts a Tract of land containing 250 acres on the head branch of Deep River in our County of Stokes beginning at Martha Pitts Corner in Guilford County line north 42 chains to pointers, West falling on Patterson's line 28 chains to his corner post Oak South 51 degrees west 15 chain to his corner pointers west thirty chains & thirty one links to pointers south 32 chains to a stake in Martha Pitts line thence to the beginning [ Stokes Co. Deed Bk 2 p. 141]

  • ca 1804 Richard Beasley dies in Stokes Co. NC - he leaves will in Stokes Co. naming his children: Wm., Peggy Cooper, Benjamin, Robert, Richard, Molly Taylor, Patty Harrison, James, Sally Nunn, Thomas, Sukea Coomer. Exors were "friends and neighbors" James Cook and Tyro Riddle. Wits: Isaac Pennington and Joseph Pennington.
