THIS FAMILY HISTORY IS DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF WARDIE HOLBROOK CRAFT WHO
WAS CALLED HOME IN FEBRUARY 1998. WARDIE WAS AN OLD REGULAR BAPTIST PREACHER
AND A TRIED AND TRUE CHRISTIAN SOLDIER. HE FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT AND SERVED HIS
SAVIOR, HIS FELLOW MAN AND HIS BAPTIST CONGREGATION WITH ALL HIS HEART AND
SOUL.
A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Wardie
Craft.
With deepest respect, we pay homage and tribute to Wardie Craft.
WHEREAS, Wardie Craft was a retired teacher, minister, and Morgan County
preservationist; and
WHEREAS, Wardie Craft was the devoted husband of Hazel Craft; and
WHEREAS, Wardie Craft was the beloved foster parent to 85 orphaned and
displaced children; and
WHEREAS, Wardie Craft is survived by two adoring sisters, Rosetta Adems of
Caney, and Corda Perry of McDonough, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the passion, dedication, intelligence, and social consciousness
Wardie Craft brought to his community and to the Commonwealth of Kentucky will
never be forgotten, and his influence will continue through the many children
whom he has helped; and
WHEREAS, Wardie Craft, along with his wife, Hazel, and many friends and residents
of Morgan County worked to preserve eight shale-roofed, 19th-century log cabins
that are now a part of the Memory Hill museum; and
WHEREAS, Wardie Craft, along with his wife, Hazel, established the Memory
Hill Foundation to preserve the Memory Hill museum;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of
the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of
sorrow upon the passing of Wardie Craft and extends to his family its most
heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in
loving memory and honor of Wardie Craft.

3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of
this Resolution to Mrs. Hazel Craft, HC 68, Box 224, West Liberty, Kentucky
