MARY POLLY WILLIAMS                                             TOC

On the 1830 Morgan County KY US census is enumerated JOSEPH
DAVIS (next door to JOSHUA WILSON...who is NOT Joshua Williams).
JOSEPH DAVIS is a male of 20 Under 30. JOSEPH DAVIS m. 13
January 1825 (MARY EMILY) "Polly" WILLIAMS in Morgan County KY.
William Coffee officiating (Low Gap). MARY EMILY "Polly" WILLIAMS
DAVIS is enumerated as female of 20 Under 30 on the 1830 census.
The daughter Under 5 is VIOLET MAE DAVIS b. c1828 KY m. 20
July 1853 HENRY P. ESTEP b. c1833 VA. VIOLET MAE DAVIS was
called "Biba."

JOSEPH DAVIS & MARY EMILY "Polly" WILLIAMS are enumerated on the
1850 Greenup County KY US census
HH741

DAVIS, JOSEPH 45 M KY.
DAVIS, (MARY EMILY) POLLY (WILLIAMS) 43 F KY.
DAVIS, VIOLETTE (sic...VIOLET) (MAE) 22 F KY.
DAVIS, EDITH ("EDY") 17 F KY.
DAVIS, ROBERT 12 M OHIO (nothing known about this ROBERT b. Ohio).
DAVIS, JEREMIAH 11 M KY.
DAVIS, PRUDENCE 9 F KY.
DAVIS, (MARY) EMILY 6 F KY.
DAVIS, FRANCES J. 1 F KY.

On the 1830 Morgan census JOSEPH was of 20 Under 30. That means
he was born between 1801 & 1810. This 1850 says he was 45 which
means he was b. c1805. In 1830 MARY EMILY "Polly" WILLIAMS was
of 20 Under 30. That means she was born between 1801 & 1810.
This 1850 says she was 43 which means she was b. c1807.

SO, the working list of children of DANIEL & VIOLET have to be
re-ordered from my previous post:
1. FRANCES b. c1787.
2. JOHN T. b. 07 Nov 1789.
3. THORNTON b. c1792.
4. NANCY b. c1794.
5. ELIZABETH b. c1796.
6. ISAAC b. c1798.
7. EDITH b. c1803.
8. MARY b. c1807.
9. WINIFRED b. c1808.
10. CALEB b. 12 September 1809.
11. Jas. JEREMIAH V. b. 11 November 1811.

MARY EMILY "Polly" WILLIAMS b. c1807 m. 13 January 1825 JOSEPH
DAVIS b. c1805.

The 1850 GREENUP COUNTY KY Census is the last time I found JOSEPH
DAVIS. MARY EMILY "Polly" WILLIAMS DAVIS is on the 1860 JOHNSON
County KY Census in the household of Mrs. FRANKEY (CHASE) ESTEP
the mother of MARY EMILY "Polly" WILLIAMS DAVIS' son-in-law
WILLIAM ESTEP who m. EDITH "Edy" DAVIS. It appears that WILLIAM &
EDY DAVIS ESTEP were supporting HIS mother & siblings and HER mother
& siblings.

I also found the Descendants of MATTHIAS DAVIS & SARAH RULON from
2005. JOSEPH & MARY EMILY "Polly" WILLIAMS DAVIS, CALEB & MELINDA
DAVIS WILLIAMS and JEREMIAH VARDEMAN & JANE DAVIS WILLIAMS are
included in this research as descendants of MATTHIAS & SARAH but the
researcher is very careful NOT to state the implied connection as a
PROVEN connection...in other words, there's a supposition that these
three DAVIS children who married WILLIAMS children were the three
who didn't go to Indiana but there is NO proof other than common
sense. NOW, if this supposition can be proven then I will have found
another generation for MY tree...how about yours, MARK? STRONG
SUPPOSITION? Any proof?

Oh, according to RULON history, SARAH RULON'S mother was DORCAS
WILLIAMS b. 14 May 1744 d. 13 June 1828... she was married c1763
to DAVID RULON in New Jersey. Remember that SARAH RULON b. 03
April 1780 was in Clark County when she married MATTHIAS DAVIS 05
March 1796 and her guardian was JOHN WILLIAMS who gave permission for
the marriage. LSH

In 1820 the married son of Daniel &
Violet who was listed as head of household in which VIOLET was
enumerated was ISAAC WILLIAMS...CALEB was not married to MELINDA
DAVIS until 28 August 1826.
So, MARY EMILY "Polly" WILLIAMS actually married the first person
named Davis...JOSEPH DAVIS...13 January 1825... then CALEB married
MELINDA DAVIS 28 August 1826... next J. V. married JANE DAVIS 12
February 1829. My personal thinking is this...all three of these
DAVIS kids were from the same family (nobody has EVER CLAIMED or PROVED
otherwise)...two of them, Joseph & Melinda, are claimed in a flawed
Indiana bio (Matthias & Sarah's grandson AARON DAVIS s/o JAMES) in a
list of children of MATTHIAS DAVIS & SARAH RULON. Researchers use this
flawed bio as proof for ten of the children but admit that the list
might not be complete because of the Kentucky censuses. The 1820
Floyd County KY census shows that JANE DAVIS could have been the
daughter of MATTHIAS & SARAH. It is highly likely (what are the
chances that two Williams kids would marry two Davis kids from the SAME
Davis family while the third Williams kid married a Davis kid from
ANOTHER Davis family?) that three WILLIAMS kids married three DAVIS
kids from the same family. All three of these marriages appear to have
taken place before MATTHIAS & SARAH removed to Indiana. The flawed
bio says three of their children DID NOT remove to Indiana with
them...there were THREE Davis kids who married WILLIAMS kids who were
in 1830 Morgan County KY after MATTHIAS & SARAH removed to Indiana.
I can't just CLAIM that JOSEPH, MELINDA and JANE were the children of
MATTHIAS & SARAH RULON DAVIS but the DAVIS folks have been contacting
me for a couple of years asking for information on JOSEPH, MELINDA
and JANE because they also found the three DAVIS kids married to
three WILLIAMS kids. If only MATTHIAS DAVIS, Sr.'s 27 July 1844
Decatur County Indiana will had listed a daughter MELINDA WILLIAMS or
a daughter JANE WILLIAMS I would then have a proof but to my
knowledge the will didn't say that...I don't have a copy of the
will...the abstract is online & used by all the DAVIS
researchers...MATTHIAS DAVIS, Jr. was the heir...I suspect if the will
had named a WILLIAMS child someone would have told me by now. They
(some DAVIS folks) BELIEVE that we are connected to MATTHIAS &
SARAH'S family. MATTHIAS & SARAH were THERE in FLOYD County KY in
the right time...right place... as DANIEL & VIOLET'S family. MATTHIAS &
SARAH had four females in their Floyd County KY household in
1820...two of whom could have been daughters Melinda & Jane...a male
who could have been son Joseph was there in 1820. In 1820 DANIEL
WILLIAMS died in Floyd County KY...in 1822 Morgan County KY was
formed from Floyd County KY...the WILLIAMS family was then in Morgan
County...in January of 1825 MARY EMILY "Polly" WILLIAMS m. JOSEPH
DAVIS in Morgan County KY...in August of 1826 MELINDA DAVIS m.
CALEB WILLIAMS in Morgan County KY...in February of 1829 Jas.
JEREMIAH VARDEMAN WILLIAMS m. JANE DAVIS in Morgan County KY.

1810 Montgomery County KY...3 females in MATTHIAS & SARAH'S household.

1820 FLOYD County KY...5 females in MATTHIAS & SARAH'S household.

1830 FRANKLIN County INDIANA...1 female in MATTHIAS & SARAH'S
household.

The MATTHIAS DAVIS family is the only DAVIS family anywhere around
the WILLIAMS family in 1820 FLOYD...I hate to keep being such a
"harp" but these families married into families who were in CLOSE
proximity...transportation was an issue in 1820. The ISAAC WILLIAMS
(the widow VIOLET'S household with her kids including Caleb, J. V. &
"Polly") & THORNTON WILLIAMS households were about 14 households
from MATTHIAS DAVIS' household with his son JAMES next door to
him...no other DAVIS families for many pages in either direction.
Now, how would "Polly" meet someone in 1825 who didn't go to the same
church she did (South Fork Baptist Church)...but maybe JOSEPH DAVIS
did go to the same church...he certainly went to the Low Gap Baptist
Church with the FAMILY in 1835 and went with the FAMILY when they
moved as a group to form Zion Baptist Church...anyway, a JOSEPH DAVIS
had to be FAIRLY CLOSE to the same place as "Polly" to marry her in
1825...and the only DAVIS family who was anywhere near the WILLIAMS
family in 1820 just happened to be the MATTHIAS DAVIS family who just
happened to have a son named JOSEPH. How many other JOSEPH DAVISES
were close to "Polly" WILLIAMS in 1825? LSH
