Last Rites are Held Sunday for Mr. Golder
Services for Jesse S. Golder, 80, were held Sunday at the Wollmer &
Warne Funeral Home and at the Uehling Congregational Church. The
Rev. Maurice Holt conducted the services.
Mrs. Windsor Uehling was the organist, accompanying Ivar Anderson
and Charles Landholm.
Pallbearers were William Sass, Walter Miller, Adolf Dudek, Clifford
Anderson, Harold Daubert and Raymond Daubert. Interment was in the
Scribner Cemetery.
Mr. Golder had been ill for several months, and passed away
Thursday at a Fremont hospital. He was born February 25, 1877, at
Seneca, Ill., and came to Nebraska with his parents at the age of
five. They settled on a farm five miles northwest of Scribner near
Dead Timber State Park where he lived until his marriage to Leonora
Uehling of Uehling on February 3, 1904. The couple observed their
Golden Wedding anniversary in 1954.
The Golders lived in Scribner following their marriage. In 1909
they moved to a farm one mile east of Uehling. Last March they
retired to Uehling.
Mr. Golder served as president two of the 20 years he was on the
State Fair Board. He was also an Ak-Sar-Ben Board member for a
number of years and was a breeder of Duroc hogs.
Surviving are the widow, Leonora; three sons, Robert and Archie of
Uehling, and Walter of Hooper; a daughter, Mrs. Loretta Popken of
Fremont; and five grandchildren. His parents, four brothers, three
sisters and an infant daughter preceded him in death.

Services Were Held For Mrs. Leonora Golder
Funeral services were held Friday, December 21, for Mrs. Leonora
Golder, 87, of Fremont who died Tuesday, at the Dodge County
Community Hospital. She had been ill for six months.
The Rev. R. O. Louthan officiated for the service at the
Congregational Church in Uehling. Ivan Anderson and Charles
Landholm sang, accompanied by Mrs. Windsor Uehling, organist.
Burial was in Pebble Cemetery at Scribner, with Wollmer and Warne
in charge. Pallbearers were Wayne Uehling, Vyrle Uehling, Kenneth
Carlson, Verdo E. Johnson, Richard Hespen, and Windsor Uehling.
Mrs. Golder was born Dec. 19, 1875 at Hooper and had lived in this
community all her life. On Febr. 3, 1904 she married Jesse Golder
and they moved to Scribner where they lived until 1908 when they
moved to a farm east of Uehling, where they resided until they
retired in 1937. In 1954 they celebrated their Golden Wedding.
Mrs. Golder was a member of the Congregational Church and of the
American Legion Auxiliary at Uehling.
Mrs. Golder is survived by three sons, Robert and Archie of Uehling
and Walter of Hooper, and a daughter Mrs. Paul (Loretta) Popken of
Fremont; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and one
brother, Frank Uehling of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her
husband, her parents, a daughter, a sister and eight brothers.

Robert A. Golder, 96, of Fremont, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at
Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Golder was born March 15, 1905, in Scribner. He attended District
67 country school and was a 1925 graduate of Uehling High School.
He married Grace Sorensen Dec. 26, 1949, at Emmaus Lutheran Church
in Kennard. He was a farmer and worked on the family farm until
1955. He worked as a custodian of Uehling Public School for 22
years. He served on the city council for 19 years and was Mayor of
Uehling for four years.
He was a member of Uehling Lions Club for 40 years. Survivors
include: his wife; and a sister, Loretta Poppkins of Fremont. He
was preceded in death by two brothers.
Graveside services were held in Prairie View Cemetery in Kennard.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established to Uehling Rescue Squad.

He was an avid stock car racer and built race car engines. He began
his racing career in 1980. He bowled in the men's league at Plaza
Lanes in Fremont for many years and also enjoyed hockey. He was
diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (A.L.S.) in December
2000 and had been residing at the Ambassador Subacute & Rehab Center
in Omaha since August 2005. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran
Church of Hooper.
He married Chandra Kadlecek on Oct. 8, 1994, in Orlando, Fla.
Survivors include: his wife, Chandra of Fremont; a son, Trevor at
home in Fremont; his parents, Jack and Donna (Dorfmeyer) Golder of
Hooper; a sister, Carolyn (and husband, Bob) Scrimsher of Lincoln;
mother-in-law, Marilyn Kadlecek of Stratton; grandmothers, Genevieve
Golder of Fremont and Jane Kadlecek of Chadron; three sisters-in-
law, Carrol Kadlecek of Stratton, Cynthia (and husband, John)
Roberts of Tuttle, Okla., and Connie Kadlecek of North Platte; two
brothers-in-law, Chuck (and wife, Rhonda) Kadlecek of Ceresco and
Craig (and wife, Claire) Kadlecek of Castle Rock, Colo.; and aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charles Kadlecek, and
grandparents.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church
in Hooper with the Rev. Joel Schroeder and Chaplain Sue Browning
officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Moser
Memorial Chapel in Fremont with family receiving friends from 6-8
p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time
Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Hooper Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Alegent Hospice at
Omaha, Fremont Ice Association, Hockey Program and A.L.S. Research.

Walter Golder, 68, Laid to Rest Friday
Walter Golder was born May 27, 1906, in Scribner. On Aug. 25,
1934, he was married to Genevieve Tabler in Bethany, Mo. They
farmed at Uehling, later moving to Snyder and Scribner before
moving to a farm near Hooper in 1949.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ where he served as a
trustee and formerly as a deacon. He was also a member of Ak-Sar-
Ben, Hooper Lion's Club, Eagles F.O.E. 200 in Fremont, Nebraska
Feeder's Ass'n., Nebraska Tractor Puller's Ass'n, and a former
board member of School Dist. #22.
Mr. Golder died suddenly Tuesday evening, April 1, at his home.
He is survived by his wife; son, Jack, of Hooper; daughters, Mrs.
Richard (Janice) Hespen, and Mrs. Gerald (Jean Ann) Roemer, both of
Fremont; sister, Mrs. Paul (Loretta) Popken of Fremont; brother,
Robert, of Uehling; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Apr. 4, at 2 p.m. at the United
Church of Christ, Rev. Wm. Reitmeier officiating. Mrs. Melvin Bauer
was organist and Mrs. Harold Goodrich, soloist. Mr. Harry Risney
of Missouri Valley, Ia., an uncle of Mrs. Golder read a poem by
Rudyard Kipling.
Honorary pallbearers were Bradford Allen, Ray Allen, John
Dorfmeyer, Ben Hespen, Ernest Jorgenson, and Jerry Ruppert.
Active pallbearers were Harold Goodrich, Kennard Legband, Gilbert
Mohr, Kenneth Roby, Otto Roemer, and Kenneth Scholl.
Burial was in the Scribner cemetery with the Warne Funeral Home of
Hooper in charge of arrangements.

Loretta Popken
Loretta K. Popken, 89, of Fremont died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at
Nye Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fremont.
Loretta Golder was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Uehling. She grew up in
Uehling and attended District 67 School near Uehling and was a 1931
graduate of Uehling High School. She married Paul J. Popken on Feb.
24, 1938, in Hooper. After her marriage, the couple operated a
produce service at Uehling and also farmed near Uehling. They moved
to Fremont in 1944, and she worked part time at Schweser's
Department Store in Fremont for several years. She and her family
received the Pioneer Farm Family Award from Aksarben in 1967, for
100 years of family farm ownership. Her spouse preceded her in
death Aug. 22, 1989.
She was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fremont,
where she was a member since 1944. She also was a member of the
church circle, member of "Smiles," a birthday club, and Jessie
Benton Chapter, Izaak Walton League. She was a 60-year member of
the Dodge County Extension Club, and she did volunteer work at her
church.
Survivors include: a daughter, Kathleen (Mrs. Richard) Edwards of
Fremont; and a grandson.
She also was preceded in death by a grandson, a sister and three
brothers.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Fremont with the Rev. Del Hutton officiating. Visitation
will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with
the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Visitation will
continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will
be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
Memorials have been established to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church
in Fremont and the Dodge County Humane Society.
