Tessier Uehling The Fremont Tribune August 10, 1976 Uehling Services are pending for Mrs. Harold (Bernice M.) Uehling, 71, of Port Orchard, Wash., a former Fremont area resident. Mrs. Uehling died Wednesday in a Harper, Wash. hospital She was born Aug. 12, 1906 at Oakdale and lived in Fremont and Uehling before moving to Washington about 20 years ago. She was a member of South Colby Methodist Church. Survivors include the widower, Harold T. Uehling, sons, Keith of Port Orchard, and Thad of Bowie, Md.; brother, Kirk Tessier and sister, Mrs. Marian Haecker, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and eight grandchildren. The body will be cremated and interned at Ridge Cemetery at a later date. Bader-Rossnek-Lawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. UEHLING, BERNICE MARJORY ****************************************************************** Obituary - Charlotte Herre Uehling The Hooper Sentinel December 14, 1944 Rites Held for Former Citizens Mrs. Edward Uehling The death of Mrs. Edward Uehling , 76, former early day Hooper resident, occurred Friday at the Dodge county hospital where she had been a patient for several weeks. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Fremont and interment made in Ridge cemetery. Mrs. Uehling, as Charlotte Herre, was born Feb. 27, 1868, at Hackettown, N. J., the family later moving to Fremont. On July 13, 1890, she was married to Edward Uehling, Hooper banker, and they resided in Hooper until moving to Uehling in 1906. Mr. Uehling died Aug. 21, 1942. Surviving children are Mrs. G. W. Hout, Klamath Falls, Ore.; Harold Uehling, Uehling; Mrs. T. J. Malone, Seattle, Wash.; Clifton Uehling, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mrs. Uehling was a charter member of Friendship chapter, O. E. S., Hooper, a charter member of the Legion Auxiliary at Uehling and of the Hooper Woman's club. Uehling Services Sunday Mrs. Charlotte H. Uehling, 76, pioneer resident of Fremont, died here Friday at the Dodge county hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of the Fred Bader funeral home. Rev. Arthur W. Taylor of the Congregational church will officiate and burial well be in Ridge cemetery. Mrs. Uehling, who was born as Charlotte Herre, Feb. 27, 1868, at Hackettstown, N. J. was graduated from Fremont high school in 1865. After teaching in the Fremont city schools she was married here July 13, 1890, to Edward Uehling. Mr. Uehling died Aug. 21, 1942. They resided in Hooper until 1906 and in Uehling until 1942. On July 13, 1940, they observed their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Uehling was a charter member of the Hooper Eastern Star Friendship chapter; a charter member of the Hooper Woman's club and a charter member of the Legion auxiliary of Uehling, acting as chaplain for a number of years. Herre, Fremont.UEHLING, CHARLOTTE HERRE ****************************************************************** Obituary - Clifton Uehling The Scribner Rustler July 13, 1983 Page 4 Clifton Uehling Dies At Genoa Funeral services for Clifton Uehling, 80, of Genoa and a Hooper native, were held last Tuesday afternoon, July 5. Mr. Uehling died unexpectedly June 29 at his Genoa residence. He was born May 11, 1903 in Hooper and graduated from Uehling High School. He attended the University of Nebraska for two years. He married Leona Claasen on Oct. 5, 1929, in Lincoln. She died on Jan. 11, 1975. They lived in Hooper, Uehling, Cedar Rapids and Genoa. Mr. Uehling was employed by Consumer's Public Power as an electrical utilities superintendent in Cedar Rapids and Genoa from 1944 until his retirement in 1965. He was a longtime member of the Oakland Masonic Lodge 91 AF & AM. Mr. Uehling is survived by a son, Gary, Golden, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Suzanne) Mahoney, Genoa, and Mrs. James (Carolee) Cuba, Columbus; and 9 grandchildren. He was a brother- in-law of Mrs. Anna Lohmeyer. Burial was in the Hooper Cemetery. Masonic graveside services were conducted by the Oakland Lodge. UEHLING, CLIFTON FREDERIC ****************************************************************** Edward Uehling Nebraskana Page 1214 Edward Uehling, banker, was born in Dodge County, Nebraska, March 13, 1863, son of Theodore and Kathrina (Schwab) Uehling. His father, who was born in Sax Meiningen, Germany, January 11, 1836, came to America with an older brother in 1847, his father and mother having died. He was a farmer and stock raiser until his death at Uehling, February 13, 1912. Katherine Schwab was born in Bavaria, Germany, February 28, 1838, and died at Uehling, April 2, 1927. Mr. Uehling attended country school in the pioneer days of Nebraska, and was thereafter associated with the Dodge County Bank of Hooper for seventeen years. Since 1905 he has been associated with the Farmers State Bank of Uehling, as cashier and vice president. He is a Republican, and has served as a member of the school board at Hooper and Uehling, as a member of the board of trustees and as village treasurer. He was married to Charlotte Herre at Fremont, Nebraska, July 13, 1890. Mrs. Uehling was born in New Jersey, February 27, 1868 of German parentage. There are four children; Vera L., born May 6, 1892; Harold T., born January 27, 1896; Elletha, born October 2, 1900, and Clifton F., born May 11, 1903. Mr. Uehling was chairman of all Liberty and Victory loans for Uehling and Logan Township during the World War, and was chairman and treasurer of the Red Cross during the war period. He is a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Residence: Uehling. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - History of Dodge and Washington Counties, Nebraska and Their People 1921 Volume II, Page 478 Edward Uehling Edward Uehling, one of the sons of the late pioneer, Theodore Uehling, is a native son of Dodge County, has always retained more or less interest in the land and its resources, but primarily has been a business man. His connections for a number of years past have been centered at the town of Uehling and his individual enterprise has done much to prosper and develop that commercial center. He was born at his father's home in what was then Washington but is now Dodge County, March 13, 1863. He attended the common schools of his home district until he was about thirteen. On leaving school he went to work in a hardware store at Hooper, and the six years spent there gave him a fundamental training in business. For about a year after leaving Hooper he was with a general mercantile establishment at Oakland, Nebraska, and then returned to the general merchandise business at Hooper, where he remained five years. He next entered the Dodge County Bank, of Hooper, and in 1905 he helped organize the Farmers State Bank at Uehling and in connection with the bank of which he was cashier handled a stock of hardware. Mr. Uehling has been cashier of the bank from its inception and has had much to do with the financial service the institution has rendered in that community. Its capital has always been $15,000 and while the deposits in 1906 were only $14,000, those for 1920 showed and aggregate of $247,000. Mr. Uehling married in July, 1890, Miss Charlotte Herre, who was born in New Jersey. They were married at Fremont, where her father, C. F. Herre, was for many years a tailor and where he died. Mr. and Mrs. Uehling became the parents of four children: Mrs. Vera L. Hout, the oldest, lives at Uehling; Harold T., who spent two years in the Ordnance Department of the army and saw service of eighteen months in France, is now connected with his father's bank, having received his honorable discharge in May, 1919; Eletha, the third child, is a student in the State University of Nebraska, and Clifton, the youngest, is at home. Mr. Uehling has always been a factor in the school affairs of his community, serving for a number of years on the school board of Hooper and also at Uehling. For six years he has been treasurer of the Town Board of Uehling. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge and his family belong to the Congregational Church.

Uehling, 83, will be held in South Colby, Wash. Uehling died in Washington on Wednesday. He was born in 1896 in Hooper and lived in Fremont, Hooper and Uehling before moving to Washington. He lived there for several years. Uehling was married to Bernice M. Tessier June 15, 1921 in Colorado Springs, Colo. She preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1976. Survivors include two sons, Keith of Port Orchard, Wash., and Thad of Bowie, Maryland. Also surviving is one brother, Clifton of Genoa and eight grandchildren. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Fremont. Bader-Rossenck-Lawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. UEHLING, HAROLD THEODORE ****************************************************************** Obituary - Keith Uehling The Sun May 31, 2000 Keith Kirk Uehling, 75, of Southworth died of severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease May 23, 2000, at Harrison Hospital. He was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Uehling, Neb., to Harold T. and Bernice M. (Tessier) Uehling. He graduated from North High School in Omaha and from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb. Mr Uehling served in the Army from 1943 to 1946. He married Shirley Gress on July 30, 1966, in Connell. Mr. Uehling worked with the United States Corps of Engineers for 25 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Scottish Rite. He also had an interest in model trains. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kristi Showalter of Southworth, Robin Lastovica of Bellevue, Neb. and Megan Samson of Omaha; one brother, Thad of Lothian, Md.; and nine grandchildren. He as preceded in death by two daughters, Shelia Uehling in 1981, and Kathy Gerdes earlier this month. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. today at the Eagles in Port Orchard.
