May 21, 1931
Edward Daubert Called by death
Edward Gerhard Daubert, son of Mrs. Fred Daubert, and a veteran of

of age, he having been born on May 7, 1896. He had spent all of

months with the Army of Occupation in Germany, and returned home on
May 24, 1919, following his discharge. He served his country with
honor and distinction, and through he did not come back decorated
with medals not named for any citation, his discharge papers bear a
remark which equals any or all of these, for written in the bold
hand of his Major, and standing out entirely from the rest of the
entries on his discharge papers was the one word, "Excellent," as a
testimony regarding his character. And as such all friends knew
him, an excellent character in every respect as to conduct, home
life, citizenship and church.

This week the Independent is called to chronicle the death of one

the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Fred Daubert, in Logan
Township, Dodge County, Nebraska. He had been ill and in bed about

Johan Daubert was born in the duchy of Saxe-Meiningen in
southwestern Germany, on April 9, 1830. He was united in marriage

children were born to this union, one daughter and two sons. The

Dodge County Wis., where many of their conuntrymen had settled.
However, they remained there only long enuf to gain the first idea
of the ways and conditions in the new world and to acquire some
means for investment where prospects were better. So in 1873 they
set out for Nebraska, coming to Logan Township, where they at once
purchased a farm. The children attended school in old District No.
17 and the boys, Fred and Henry, who in a few years became of age
soon acquired farms of their own in the same neighborhood, and the
