          WILLIAM BLANTON son of GROVER CLEVELAND BLANTON and OXIE BLANTON was born 12 June 1918 in Harlan County, Kentucky, and died 10 April 1945 in Europe. After graduating from the University of Kentucky William enlisted in the US Army 22 September 1942 at Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. He earned his wings and promoted to 2nd LT. while piloting a C47 over Europe was killed in action in an midair collision on 10 April 1945, just 26 days before Germanys' surrender. My Grandparents Grover and Oxie had William's remains shipped home in 1948 to Wallins and reburied among his extended family in the Grover C and Oxie B Blanton Cemetery near Tremont, Kentucky.
