STATE
OF TENNESSEE } I, William Howerton, of
said State and County, COUNTY OF CLAIBORNE} being of
sound mind and disposing memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament. FIRST - I
will and bequeath that all my debts be paid by my executors and that they
receive all debts due me. SECOND - I
will and bequeath to my six children of my first wife the sum of $5.00 each to
be paid them by my executors out of my personal estate, they having received of
me other sums advanced to them, making them equal with the sum or sums given to
my children of the wife of my last marriage, it making them equal to the sum given,
or about to be given to the children of my second wife. I further will and bequeath to my wife,
Catherine, all my personal estate remaining at my death. I further will that my said wife have the
tract of land on which I now live for her use and benefit during her natural
life. I further will and bequeath that
my five children by my last wife, namely:
Alsey, William, Elizabeth, Richard, and Catherine, have all the money
and personal estate found remaining at the death of my said wife,
Catherine. I further and lastly will and
bequeath to my two sons, children of my last wife, William and Richard, the tract,
piece or parcel of land on which I now live as an indefeasible inheritance,
forever, on fee to be passed by them, of my said wife Catherine, without let or
hindrance forever. LASTLY - I appoint and ordain my wife Catherine and my son
Richard as executors to carry this, my last will and testament into effect. In
testimony whereof I, William Howerton, have hereunto set my hand and affixed my
seal this the 15th day of February 1847.
