VINCENT BLANTON son of JOHN WILLIAM BLANTON (1745-1831) and ANN WHITLOW was born 1790 in Lee County, Virginia, and died 1885 in Shawnee, Johnson County, Kansas. He married SARAH MARSHALL 1814 in Knox County, Kentucky. She was born 1797 in Tennessee, and died 1874. He is buried at Shawnee Cemetery, Shawnee, Johnson county, Kansas, located at Quivera and 61st terrace. this cemetery lies next to two other cemeteries, St. Josephs Catholic and Pleasant View.

The War of 1812 Claim for Service Pension dated 28 December 1881 is a valuable document and proves that Vincent Blanton was born in 1790 in Lee County Virginia, was 22 years of age when he enlisted on 1st March 1812 when he was a resident of Lee County Virginia. He served in the Company commanded by Captain Turner, in the 15th regiment of Virginia, commanded by Colonel Carter; was honorably discharged at Tazwell County Virginia on 1st December 1812. His description at the time of his enlistment: 5 feet 5 1/2 inches in height; brown hair and blue eyes and light or fair complexion; 22 years of age; Farmer by occupation.
