Floyd Ellis Harless

ABINGDON, Va. -- Mr. Floyd Ellis Harless, 77, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County and the son of the late John Henry and Rebecca Harless. He was a member of Shady Grove Pentecostal Church where he served as trustee. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant with the 8th Fighter Squadron. He retired fromthe Washington County School System. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Ruby Tester Harless; two sons and daughters-in-law: Gary E. and Connie Harless, Abingdon, and David W. and Kathy Harless, Abingdon; four sisters: Elsie Rosenbalm, North Carolina, Frances Crane, Meadowview, Helen Reynolds and Betty Hughes, both of Abingdon; three grandchildren: Tonya E. Moore, Anthony J. Harless and Canaan E. Harless; and two great-grandchildren: Carty Leonard and Landon Moore. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 6 p.m. inFarris Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Reynolds, Rev. Carl Robinson and Rev. Carter Wells officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Committal services will be Monday at 3 p.m. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends will gather Monday at the funeral home at 2:30.
