Hester Ornduff

ABINGDON - Mrs. Hester Pearl Ornduff, age 80, a resident of 643 W. Main St., died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born on Feb. 23, 1926, the daughter of the late Charles T. and Etta Rebecca Minton Wilkinson. She was retired from the Columbus McKinnon Corp., having worked for more than 25 years, and worked for the Faith In Action Food Pantry. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Ornduff; two sisters, Elizabeth Anderson and Thelma Hayter; three brothers, Fred Wilkinson, Sam Wilkinson and Claude Wilkinson; and the grandmother that raised her, Henrietta Wilkinson.

Survivors include a loving daughter, Iris Sturgill of Abingdon; one granddaughter, Becky Smith of Meadowview; two great-grandchildren, Zack and Peyton Smith of Meadowview; one brother, C.T. "Jack" Wilkinson of Abingdon; one half-brother, Garland Wilkinson of Abingdon; and special cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Gill of Glade Spring. She leaves behind a host of friends that she loved so dear.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hester Pearl Ornduff will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Brother James R. Pence. Burial will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Jack Cortner, Glenn DeBusk, Benny Repass, Larry Gobble, Orvil Roark and Tommy Alexander.
