Asst Mine Foreman
Carl W Fulton

Cincinatti Enquirer Front Page, Saturday Morning 16 July 1921 special dispactch to the inquirer
Harlan, Ky, July 18, - Lynch, the mining town of the United States Coal and Coal Company, in the eastern part of Harlan County was the scene of a triple killing, at 11:00 o'clock to-day, when Chief of Police W R Holcomb, Deputy Sheriff J C Coldiron and Foreman Carl Fulton were shot to death when in the company bathhouse. The shooting is alleged to have been done by four men from Clay County who were employed in the mines there.
Two of them were said to be brothers By the name of Stivers, another Theodore Marcum and another whose name could not be learned. The trouble is believed to have started over one of the Striver boys going into the mines carrying a pistol. He was ordered out by the foreman, who reported it to the officer, and they found Stiver and the others in the bathhouse. After an argument Stiver and his three companions, it is alleged, opened fire. One of the Stiver brothers and Marcum were wounded slightly.
A special train brought all four prisoners here,
two being lodged in jail, and the wounded men are in a hospital.
