PHILLIP HALCOMB/HOLCOMB son of SAMUEL HALCOMB/HOLCOMB (1864-1930) and NANCY FOUCH (1866-1940) was born 26 November 1897 in Letcher County, Kentucky, and died 08 December 1932 in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky. He married MARTHA JANE CALDWELL Bef. 1921 in Wise County, Virginia, daughter of EPHRAIM DANIEL CALDWELL (1870-1915) and LUCINDA SHORT (1870-?). She was born 1898 in Tazewell, Tazewell County, Virginia, and died 19 February 1931 in Letcher County, Kentucky. Burial: Jerd Halcomb Cemetery, Line Fork, Letcher County, Kentucky. Occupation is miner and he is married. Cause of death was severe ? of left leg, gangrene.
From Lorene: He worked in the mines in Upsher Virginia or something like that in Virginia and he worked in the Kentucky coal mines around Whitesburg and also in the Benham Coal Mines, Benham, Harlan County, Kentucky. That is how he met my Grandma, he was a boarder in their home while he worked in the Virginia mines.
