Paris Thomas Jr.

Paris Thomas Jr., 53, Closplint, died May 20, 2006, due to injuries sustained in a mining accident.
A native of Evarts, he had lived here all of his life. He was a graduate of Evarts High School and a member of the Jones Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He had 26 years of coal mining experience and had previously been employed by Jericol Mining Co. and Manalapan Coal Co.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paris Thomas Sr.; his son, Paris Lee Thomas; and two sisters: Una Thomas Tarbell and Lola Thomas Cornett.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Tilda Taylor Thomas, Closplint; his mother, Sally Burkhart Thomas, Evarts; a daughter, Tracy Thomas North and husband, Anthony, Wallins; three sisters: Audrey Creech and husband, Donnie, Lejunior; Vika Blevins and husband, Bobby, Evarts; and Veda Hall and husband, Ralph, Putney; his grandson, Bryson North, Wallins; an expected grandson, Camden Paris North; his mother-in-law, Pansy Taylor, Evarts; a sister-in-law, Brenda Greene and husband, Johnny, Douglasville, Ga.; brother-in-laws and their wives: Russell and Angela Taylor, Evarts; Scotty and Teresa Taylor, Closplint; Eddie and Linda Taylor, Closplint; Willard and Karen Taylor, Clarksville, Tenn.; and Randy and Angela Taylor, Harlan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other friends and family.
Visitation is today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Evarts Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Sonny Dean and the Rev. Gerald Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens.
Zack Thomas, Russell Taylor, Anthony North, B.J. Blevins, Donnie Creech and Johnny Greene will serve as pallbearers.
Evarts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
