EARLY HISTORY OF LENAWEE COUNTY

The above building was built in 1867. In later years it was called Maple Lane Manor. There is a cemetery behind the building where a monument with the deceased names was dedicated on August 9, 2000.

The Lenawee Poor Farm was also known as the Poor House. As we are told, Maple Lane Manor had a separate building for those who were afflicted with Tuberculosis. The Lenawee Medical Care Facility is a descendant of the Poor Farm in that both were County sponsored facilities.

Names of persons buried at Maple Lane Manor Cemetery. An Internet web page at Rootsweb.com.
