Bertha Bell (POUCHER) WOLF

Bertha Bell Poucher Wolf was born April 22, 1871 and passed away Saturday, April 6, 1946. On August 13, 1889 she was married to Wellie VanValkenburg. Two children were born to this union, Lee of Morenci and Rena Salsbury of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Wellie VanValkenburg fell in his barn and met a very sad death, as he was loved by all who knew him. His death occurred July 26, 1899.

On May 12, 1906 Bertha VanValkenburg was married to William G. Wolf of Seneca. To them was born one son, Harold, who resides on the old farm.

Mrs. Wolf was born and brought up in a Christian home and was active in the interest of the church. When only a small child she united with the Methodist Church and accepted Christ as her Master. She was true to the end.

Friends were always welcome to her home and always greeted cordially. Her daily life was one of exemplary Christian living, and her fond ambition was to help others and her prayer was to walk closer with her Master.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Pythian Sisters. She was a member of the Grange for sixty years and chaplain of the Grange for many years. She was president of the Northeast Division of the Methodist Church.

Always a true friend to the needy, she has left a large circle of friends.

The funeral was held at the Ackland Funeral Home. The Rev. H. J. Salmon officiated and the burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Members of the Morenci Grange took part in the service. The bearers were A. J. Kibler, Elmer Rice, Sullivan Johnson, Orrin Keller, David Mellott and Oliver Onweller.
