Lee VanValkenburg, 66, died unexpectedly at his home on Gorham St. at 8 p.m. Tuesday. He was born January 23, 1892 in Fulton County, Ohio, to Wellie and Bertha Poucher VanValkenburg. He lived all his life in this community except for two years in Canada. He married Ethel Ratcliff of Swift Current, Canada, Nov. 20, 1912. Mr. VanValkenburg was employed at the Parker Rust Proof plant here for 15 years, retiring 18 months ago. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge. Preceding him in death was one daughter, Florence, in infancy. Surviving are his wife, Ethel; three sons, Francis of Morenci, William of Hudson and John of Manitou Beach; three daughters, Mrs. Dale (Doris) Smith of Fayette, Mrs. Harry (Dorothea) O’Brien of Delta and Mrs. Lavern (Cynthia) Allion of Morenci; a half-brother Harold Wolf of Seneca; one sister Rena Belle Salsbury of St. Petersburg, Fla; and 12 grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Ackland and Fink Funeral home with Rev. John DeLine officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Baker, Curtis Powers, Russell Hart, Clair Weber, Fred Schmidt and Donald Woodard. (Typist – He died June 10th, 1958)
