Ethel A. VanValkenburg, 88, a resident of Gorham Street, died Saturday at Morenci Area Hospital. She was born October 17, 1894 in Vinton County, Ohio, the daughter of John and Cora (Graves) Ratcliff. On November 20, 1912, she was married to Lee VanValkenburg in Swift Current, Canada. He died June 10, 1958. Mrs. VanValkenburg lived in Fayette 30 years prior to moving to Morenci in 1941. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William in 1975; a daughter Florence; three brothers and two sisters. Surviving are two sons, Francis of Morenci and Dr. John VanValkenburg of Montevallo, Alabama; three daughters, Mrs. Cynthia Allion of Morenci, Mrs. Dorothea O’Brien of Lyons and Mrs. Doris Smith of Fayette; a sister, Mrs. Edward (Rea) Ivall of Swift Current, Canada; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held, Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Charles Fink Funeral Home with the Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. (Typist – she died October 8, 1983)
