BITUARIESLenawee County, Michigan |
Another remarkable and esteemed pioneer finds final rest from earthly cares, and Martin Poucher, the estimable resident of Rome, will hereafter live only in memory. Born in Columbia Co., N. Y., Nov. 12, 1818, he spent his early life in that state, his marriage to Miss Matilda A. Pulver occurring in January 1844. Three years later he and his wife came to Lenawee County where he has since resided till his death Tuesday July 29, 1902. Nearly all this time he has lived in the town of Rome where he was a well to do land holder owning 320 acres. In politics he was a staunch democrat, loyal to its creed. In religion he was a conscientious and consistent member of the Baptist church. Of course, he was a model husband and parent, and a most valuable friend and neighbor. His wife and two of the four children born to them survive, viz: Aaron and Elma. The funeral was conducted from the church last Friday. He sleeps his last sleep and no one has to apologize for his life. (Typist – He was the son of Andrew and Elizabeth Miller Poucher)
