Florence Beckey, a daughter of Norman and Luella Speller, passed away at the Los Angeles County General Hospital in California May 6, 1947, after an illness of five days with spinal meningitis. She was born Jan. 1, 1892, near Salina, Kansas, and at the age of three years came to Michigan with her family in a covered wagon and settled near Palmyra. In December, 1910 she was married to Alfred G. Meyers and to this union were born three children, Lillian M. King of Palmyra, Thelma M. Williamson and Bradford C. Meyers of Morenci. In December 1943 she was married to Lee W. Beckey of Salina, Kansas, and had resided there with her husband since that time. In addition to her husband and three children she is survived by three step children, Mrs. Russel Howley of Burbank, CA; Mrs. Herbert Cowan of Las Vegas, NV and George Beckey of Salina, two sisters Mrs. August Buehrer and Mrs. Emil Wellnitz of Palmyra, a brother Merton Speller of Blissfield, five grandchildren and a number of nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by two brothers Milford who died in infancy and Herbert who died in 1922, her mother in 1931, and her father in 1945. The Rev. W. A. Rush officiated. The burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Blissfield. The bearers were Peter Engel, William Echler, Roland Mominee, Henry Sherman, Charles Hull and Ray Million. The funeral arrangements have not been completed.
