I came across this photograph from a box of my grandfather's things. I am really drawn to it and would love to understand more about the Adrian Bicycle Club. Notes on the back of the photo, identify it as being the Adrian Bicycle Club, May 30, 1887 at Sound Lake. The only people identified are Harry L. Larwill 4th from right on top row. Josephine Hardy is second from right in second row (in a bonnet). Then Eliza Hardy is 3rd from left in second row with a matching bonnet.
Harry would have been 24, Josephine 17 and Eliza 21 in 1887.
Harry and Josephine were married 2 years later in 1889.
Eliza married Fred Knapp in 1909.
Harry L Larwill was Probate judge of Lenawee county 1900-1932.
Do you have other copies of this photo? Is there someone who can identify more of the people in the photo?
Anyone know what the occasion might have been? Is there significance to the flowers they all are wearing? Did the Bicycle club have anything to do with bicycles? And then there is the question - what is with the bananas?
I have hopes of some day visiting your museum. I enjoy your web site as I piece together more details of my family history.
Thank you for sharing,
Ann Wright
(Note: If you have any information about the Adrian Bicycle Club or the people in the photo, please write to me & I'll post it and pass it on to Ann Wright.
