Ann KEAR,
daughter of
Thomas Reed KEAR and Catherine FRYSINGER,

March 1841 in Van Wert County, Ohio [note
1], and died 21 March 1916 in
Van Wert,
Van Wert
County, Ohio [note
2]. She married William Putnam
WOLCOTT,
son of Horace WOLCOTT and Ruth R.
Mitchell, on 20
October 1867 in Van Wert, Van
Wert County, Ohio [note
3]. He was born on 29 February
1836 in
Granville, Licking County, Ohio [note
4], and died on 14 March 1892 in Van
Wert,
Van Wert
County, Ohio [ note
5]. Amanda and William are buried in the
Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert County,
Ohio.

William
was reared on the home farm in Licking County,
Ohio, and was educated in the Granville schools and at Denison
Univesity.
After their marriage, Amanda and William
lived in Licking
County, Ohio, until 1874, when they moved to Petersburg, Illinois.
William worked as a book-keeper, and temporarily in a
sand-bank. Trapped in a cave-in, his back was dislocated and
his lower limbs were paralyzed. Returning to Van Wert in
1875, he was operated on and returned to nearly normal physical life [note
6].
In
1878 he was elected as Recorder
in Van Wert County, and served for nine years [note
7].
He
entered
the insurance and real estate business with his sons {note
8].
William served in the Union Army during the Civil War [note 9].
Amanda and William had two children [note 10]:
1. Harry Kear WOLCOTT.
2. Edward Wallace WOLCOTT.
