John
Franklin BAYLOR, son of
Amelia KEAR and Frederick BAYLOR, was born 26 October 1850 in Champaign
County.
John married Emma L. CUMMINS on 15 September 1880 in Wapello
County, Iowa. Emma was born on 20/27 April 1850 and died 30
July
1899 in Hutchinson, Kansas. Emma is buried in Eldon Cemetery,
Eldon, Wapello County, Iowa.
John
was a farmer and also worked for Swift and
Company. He disappeared, possibly during the 1893 panic, but
a
John Baylor matching his age and place of birth appeared in the 1900
census for Denver, Denver, Denver County, Colorado.
John and Emma Baylor had six children, all born in Promise City, Wayne County, Iowa :
1. Doris Emma BAYLOR was born 19 June 1881 and died 21 June 1881.
2. Faris Frederic BAYLOR (aka Fred) was born
19
June 1881, and
died 28 January 1962 in Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas. He
married Odessa Olean HALL on 22 June 1904 in Reno County, Kansas.
Odessa (aka Ollie) was born on 13 March 1882 in Hale, Carroll County,
Missouri and died on 10 July 1941 in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Faris and Odessa are buried in the Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, Reno
County, Kansas.
3. John Evert BAYLOR was born 1 January 1883.
4. Tonie Joseph BAYLOR was born 26 December 1884 and died 13 August 1986 in Promise City, Wayne County, Iowa [note 1].
5. Karl
Ira BAYLOR was
born 9 April 1887 in Eldon, Wapello County, Iowa and died 10 June 1947
in Talent, Jackson County, Oregon [note
2}. He married Jennie Isabel DEVOE on 1 June 1922
in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, California.
Karl worked in many occupations and locations from 1907 through 1942,
including being a boiler maker's helper in Portland, Oregon, gold
mining in El Dorada, Nevada and Normal Teacher's training in Santa
Barbara, California.
From September 1917 to October 1917 he was in the U.S. Army and in the
Veterans's Hospital in Palato, California from December 1920 to June
1921.
