Frances
Isabella BAYLOR, daughter of Amelia KEAR and Frederick BAYLOR, was born
1 September 1845, Ohio, probably Champaign County, and died 30 October
1911 in Great Bend, Barton County, Kansas. Francis married Reuben FREY
on 18
February 1886, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born in 1839 and
died on 20
November 1887 in Great Bend, Kansas. Francis and Reuben are
buried in
the Great Bend, Kansas, cemetery (formerly called
Woodlawn).
Reuben had been married
previously, and was
widowed. When he died two years after marrying Francis
(Fannie), she
reared the five children from his first
marriage. She and Reuben had a daughter born in 1887, who
lived one
day.
Reuben enlisted on 19 August
1861 in Company D,
50th Regiment, Illinois Infantry, and mustered out as a Corporal on 13
July 1865. He died from congestion of the
brain, resulting from the effects of rheumatism contracted in the
service". He received a pension of 54.00 a Month. The
rheumatism was
contracted from lying on damp ground around May 1862 while
advancing on Corinth, Mississippi. Fannie received a pension
of 512.00
a Month after his death.
Frances moved to Great Bend,
Kansas in 1884, and probably lived with her sister, Margaret
Ann EBE and Peter EBE.
Prior to this time she live with her parents.
Fannie, as she was known,
was a loyal member of
the Methodist Church in Great Bend, Kansas, and her funeral was held
from the church.
