This genealogy of Lewis Bozeman from the perspective of the Stacey family. Please note that their oldest son is named Jasper Tillman. Hope this helps the Bozeman search.

1. LEWIS P.1 BOZEMAN was born 1812, and died Bef. 1859. He married LOUISA STACEY January 20, 1839 in Monroe County, AL, daughter of WILLIAM STACEY and SARAH. She was born 1822 in SC.

Lewis Bozeman is believed to be from Edgefield District, SC. and the son of Phillimore Bozeman.

Lewis Bozeman purchased the public land in NE1/4 of Section 3, Township 7N, Range 8E, Monroe County, AL. Certificate # 1178.

Louisa Stacey and Levi Dailey applied for a marriage license at the Monroe County Courthouse in Monroeville, AL. Security was signed by D. McNiel. The license was never recorded. Louisa Stacey and Louis Bozeman obtained a marriage license by consent on January 05, 1839 and were married on January 20, 1839. Levi Dailey married Elizabeth Aner* (Anna) Hendrix on August 20, 1840.

Louisa Stacey Bozeman purchased the SW1/4 of NE1/4, NE1/4 of SE1/4, NW1/4 of SE1/4, SE1/4 of SE1/4, and SW1/4 of SE1/4 in Section 33, Township 6N, Range 6E, Monroe County, AL. Permit # 57594.
The neighbors were her uncle, Amos Stacey, and James Farrish Hale who married her first cousin, Mary Jane Stacey.

May 24, 1860. Monroe County Marriage Book A, pg. 219
Louisa Stacey Bozeman and Charles Barton were married by W.W. Simmons, J.P. Security was signed by Neill Salter. When they married, Louisa S. Bozeman's property on the Mt. Pleasant road was 2 miles southwest from Charles Willoughby Barton's property.

Jasper Bozeman and Marsena Morris were married by consent, The ceremony was conducted by Rev. M.M. Graham. Security was signed by D.J. Morris.

July 13, 1870 U.S. Census. Beat 5, (Easts) Monroe County, AL.
The Bozeman household was recorded with Jasper, a farmer, his wife, Marsena*, and daughters, Emma, 3, and Jane, 1 year old.

June 18, 1880 U.S. Census. Beat 2 (Mt. Pleasant) Monroe County, AL.
The Bozeman household was recorded with Jasper, aged 40, his wife Marcina*, 37, and children, Emma P., 12, Sarah J., 11, Mary A., 10, William J., 9, Florence I., 6., Clara, E., 3, and Jasper L., 2. Their neighbors were the John H. Blanton and Thomas Brown families. Jasper Bozeman's occupation was recorded as "getting shingles".

COMPILER'S NOTE:
The census taker recorded that Marcina was ill on census day. The entry for the occupation of Jasper Bozeman reads "getting shingles". This may have been a child's answer as the mother was sick. Jasper Bozeman lived near his great uncle, Amos Stacey, who was a timberman in the area before the sawmill was built at Manistee. Cedar trees are common to the area where they lived and cedar was used for shingles.

Marsena Morris married Jasper Bozeman by consent which indicates Marsena was a minor. Her age was recorded as 37 in the 1880 U.S. Census. Her approximate birth year is 1843.
