Letter written by Edward Lee from Pickens Co., Alabama August 12, 1845.
The year appears to read 1843, 1845, or 1847. Since Mathew Asbury Lee was born 24 Nov 1843, and the next child Isbella C. was born 24 Oct 1845, and the letter states the youngest at the time was Mathew Asbury, it appears the letter must have been written in August 1845.
P. 1 shows the writer was writing from Pickens Co., Alabama at above date; that the recipient was Sister Elizabeth.
P. 2 shows the writer (Edward Lee, Jr.) had an Uncle John Lee in Tennessee. (Note: some claims of heritage of Edward Lee, Sr. do not show he had a brother John Lee.)
P. 3 shows the letter was written by brother "E. Lee."
P. 4 shows the letter was directed to Mary Elizabeth Gregory at Yatesville [PO], Virginia. The following link is to a portion of 1871 Hotchkiss map of Lunenburg Co., VA showing Yatesville, and the location (red dot) of the Gregory home, then and now. See below bible pages for marriage of Mary Elizabeth "Besty" Lee, the 4th child of Edward Lee, Sr. to Josephus Gregory of Lunenburg.

See Lee/Gregory Bible Pages that show the birth and marriage records of Edward Lee, Sr., and his children and their marriages, including the marriage of Mary E. Lee to Josephus Gregory.
