The SPRAGUE was in Pittsburgh during the Winter of 1903 for major alterations.  JW played a small role in that he "worked out" a jackstaff for her, a flagpole.

Ways Towboat Directory writes that the JOSEPH B. WILLIAMS was the "daddy of 'em all in the coal towing business until the SPRAGUE was built."   The photo above shows these two boats together, with a close up of the SPRAGUE on the right, visit the page of the JOSEPH B. The SPRAGUE was also at Pittsburgh during the summer of 1959 as part of the Pittsburgh Bicentennial

These two photos are from the collection of John Durst.  Note the picture on the right, it shows the size of the SPRAGUE's wheel compared to the DELTA QUEEN of the 1970s.
