Steamer RANGER looking newly painted   Steamer RANGER in poor condition waiting for repairs. The Steamer RANGER outside of Brownsville, PA  Photo from the collection of Dennis Griffith showing the RANGER finished in 1936. Dennis's father, Bill Griffith, had his first job as a second engineer on this boat.

The RANGER was built in 1902, from the JOHN W. AILES and then rebuilt in 1920 and finally replaced with a steel hull boat in 1935.  Read about the best and the worst of times for the RANGER, June 1920.
