This is the original picture of the Packet Boat Elizabeth that evolved into the picture on the home page of this web site. This picture was part of a calendar produced by the McKeesport, PA Hospital as a fund raiser in 1994. I would like to note that McKeesport Hospital thanked THE DAILY NEWS [McKeesport] and the McKeesport HERITAGE CENTER for the assistance in the production of this centennial calendar.

The Packets ELIZABETH and I. C. WOODWARD were involved in an impromptu race for the next lock, this photo is the result.  Neither Captain would back away so they sat this way for several hours until one of the owners ordered his Captain to back away.

This is a descripition of the above photo from the 1950 edition of Way's Packet Boat Directory
