| Elizabeth S. Flaherty (July 15, 1921 - September 17, 2006) Elizabeth “C. C.” Shumate Flaherty, 85, 200 Brigadoon Drive, Richmond, died Sunday afternoon, September 17, 2006, at her home after a short illness. A native of Irvine, she was a graduate of Irvine High School, Centre College, and the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hunter and Carrie Shumate; her husband, Peter J. Flaherty, Jr.; her son, Peter J. Flaherty, III, and her sister, Peggy Shumate Beach. She is survived by three daughters: Peggy Flaherty, Lexington; Priscilla (Brian) Ferrara, New Orleans; Ann (John) Reed, Richmond; a daughter-in-law, Faye Flaherty, Richmond; eight grandchildren: Tish (Jay) Kennedy, Louisville; Erin (Mike) Powers, Louisville; Katie Flaherty, Aspen, Colorado; Gregory (Nicole) Ferrara, Arlington, Virginia; Elizabeth Ferrara, New York City; Amy Ferrara, New Orleans; Michael Ferrara, New Orleans; Hunter Ferrara, New Orleans; and two great grandchildren: Jack Kennedy and Ella Kennedy, Louisville. Visitation will be held at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, Barnes Mill Road, on Wednesday evening from 5-8 PM. Funeral services, with Father James Sichko officiating, will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church at 11 AM on Thursday. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, West Irvine, will follow. Pall bearers will be: Gregory Ferrara, Michael Ferrara, Hunter Ferrara, Jay Kennedy, Mike Powers and James Westenhoefer. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mark Catholic Church or Hospice Care Plus are suggested. |
