| Isaac Newton Douglas, Sr. (June 8, 1918 - September 17, 2006) I.N. (Isaac Newton) Douglas Sr., passed away on Sunday, September 17, after a long illness. Mr. Douglas was born in Madison County, on June 8, 1918, to the late Allen Douglas and Fannie Agee Douglas. He was a Purple Heart veteran of World War II. He worked at the Bluegrass Army Depot for many years following his service in WWII, was a master carpenter and completed his working career with the EKU Department of Building Management Services. He was faithful in his attendance at the First Church of the Nazarene, Richmond. Everyone knew Mr. Douglas as I.N. He enjoyed living, laughing and was blessed with a kind and generous spirit. He loved gardening. Many of his friends, here in Richmond, will remember his “green thumb” and miss his gifts from the garden. He will also be remembered by his many friends at the Richmond Raceway, where he was in regular attendance, watching his grandson race. He loved spending time with his family, photography and was particularly proud of his service in the military during WWII. I.N. is survived by the mother of his children, Lucile Cox Douglas. He is survived by one son, Ike (Isaac Newton) Douglas Jr. and Regina; three daughters, Imogene Morgan and James, Connie Parker and Steve, and Deborah Johnson and Noah, all of Richmond; five grandsons, Jeffrey Tussey and Eileen, Gaylord, MI; Rusty Smith, and Angie, Philadelphia, PA; Scott Douglas and Brandi, Jonathan Smith, and Curtis Johnson, all of Richmond; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Tussey Hisle, Richmond. Mr. Douglas was the proud great grandfather of six great-grandchildren, Reese, Chandler and Stone Tussey, Gaylord, MI; Sierra Hisle, Jake Rowland and Regan Douglas all of Richmond. He is also survived by four beloved nieces, Nadine Bellamy, Sue Dickerson and Mary Tipton of Richmond and Charlene Nelson of Jacksonville, FL, and several nephews. Mr. Douglas was also very fond of his two surviving sister-in-laws, Anna Douglas, Richmond and Irene Douglas, Lexington. I.N. was preceded in death by three brothers, Zena, Laverne and Orville Douglas, and five sisters, Ethel Mink, Verna Penn, Geneva Riddell, Opal Agee, and Lucille Cain. The family would like to extend a special note of appreciation to the residents of Willis Manor Retirement Home for their concern and friendship. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M., Wednesday at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday September 21, 2006, at the funeral home, with Dr. Art Hobbs Pastor, First Church of the Nazarene and Brother William Forquer, Newby Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Flatwoods Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mr. Douglas’ grandchildren, Jeffrey Tussey, Jennifer Hisle, Rusty Smith, Scott Douglas, Jonathan Smith, and Curtis Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Shirley Hacker, Vernon Long, Hattie Martin, Billie and Sylvia Norris, Lloyd and Mitzi Tussey, Pascal and Dorothy Warmouth, Eugene and Mary Wilson, and Wendall and Patsy Woolum. Flowers will be accepted at the funeral home or contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, in care of Dr. Art Hobbs, pastor. |
