Stephen was a self employed carpenter and a member of the Red House United Methodist Church. Stephen was born in Rockcastle County to the late Thomas Edward and Stella Montgomery Dees. Thomas was also preceded in death by the mother of his children Shirley Dees, a granddaughter Amanda Rose and a sister Ida Mae Van Winkle. Stephen is survived by his wife and 4 children: Debra (Bill) Brooks of Rockcastle Co. Teresa (Phillip) Rose of Berea, Thomas Steven Jr. (Kristy) Dees of Rockcastle Co. and D.J. (Jessica) Pineur of Richmond. 2 brothers James Lee Dees and Donald Larry Dees both of Rockcastle Co. 6 sisters Annie Ellen Pearson of Berea, Nora Poynter of Rockcastle Co, Myrtle Rudie and Sue Bowman both of Berea. Lillian Allen and Rockcastle Co. and Mary Lou Bowman of Jackson County. 11 grandchildren: Stephen Rose, Diane Culton, Sherry Van Winkle, Rhonda Rose, Stephanie Dees, Carol Dees, Holly Dees, Faith Dees, Thomas Stephen Dees III, Daniel Pineur and Trevor Anglin. 3 great grandchildren: Rebecca Van Winkle, Jessica Van Winkle and Alexis Rose. Funeral services will be Saturday Jan. 29, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Harding officiating. Burial services will be private in the Dees-Harding Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday Jan. 28, 2005 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the Lakes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice Care Plus 208 Kidd Dr. Berea, KY 40403.
