Owens Home for Funerals Chapel Interment: Piney Grove Cemetery Mrs. Alice Day, age 85, widow of Oscar Day, of Brodhead, Ky. passed away, Sat. December 24, 2005 at the Rockcastle Hospital. She was born on June 2, 1920 in Mt. Vernon, Ky., a daughter of the late William and Sarah Ingram McKinney. She was a member of the Brodhead Baptist Church, enjoyed cooking, canning and sewing, was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. On Feb. 5, 1938, she was united in holy matrimony to Oscar Day, and from that union came eight children-Margaret, Charles, William, James,Teddy, Chester, Joe and Nannie. Those left to mourn her passing include her children-Margaret Barnett of Brodhead; Charles Day and wife Helen of Brodhead; Oscar William & wife Ruby of Brodhead; James Day of Brodhead; Teddy Day of Brodhead; Chester Day and wife Paula of Brodhead; Joe Day and wife Janet of Brodhead. Twenty grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters- Verna King of Jellico Tenn and Mattie Webb of Hamilton, OH. As well as a host of friends and neighbors. Besides her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-Nannie Johnson, four grandchildren, a brother and two sisters. Visitation for Mrs. Alice Day will be Wed. Dec. 28, 2005 from 6-9PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals, with Funeral services being conducted Thurs. Dec. 29, 2005 at 2PM, with Bros. Randal Adams and John Zupancic officiating; burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery. |
