| Ruth Rominger Davis Born: 03/16/1921 Died: 01/01/2006 Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home Interment: Berea Cemetery Ruth Rominger Davis, age 84, of High Street in Berea, died Sunday, January 1, 2006 at the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Berea and a member of the First Christian Church. She was a graduate of Berea College and received her masters degree from the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Davis was a retired teacher. She began her teaching career in a one room school house in Dayton, Tennessee, taught and served as principal at Knapp Hall and taught at Berea High School and Berea Community School. She also served on the Berea School Board. Mrs. Davis is survived by: daughters, Mina S. Davis of Berea and Vicky Roark of Liberty, Indiana; step son, George Davis, Jr. of Berea; sister, Mary Arrants of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, John (Amy) Roark of Liberty, Indiana, Rita (Ernest) Hillard, Jim (Patty) Davis, Jan (David) Bennett all of Berea and Rick (Linda) Davis of Florence, Kentucky; great grandchildren, Shallyn, John Jr. and Shawnne Roark of Liberty, Indiana, J. B. Hillard of Cincinnati, Ohio, Matt (Stacy) Hillard and Ryan Bennett of Berea, Kentucky, Amanda and Robby Davis of Florence, Kentucky. 3 great great grandchildren also surive. She was the daughter of the late Judge William W. and Inez B. Rominger and the widow of George Davis, Sr. Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. David Grandgeorge officiating. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association. Pallbearers will be John Roark, Rick Davis, Ernest Hillard, David Bennett, J. B. Hillard and Matt Hillard. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Arrants, Paul Rominger, Fred Rominger, Amy Lewis, Gina Chamberlain, Julia Richerson, Sondra Dionisio and Martina Rothwell. |
