| Clifford N. Davis (May 10, 1947 - July 27, 2006) Cliff Davis, 59, died from a heart attack on Thursday, July 27, 2006 in Denham Springs, LA. Cliff was born in Tampa, Florida and has been a resident of Clinton, MS for 19 years. He graduated from Plant High School in Tampa and Barnesville Military College in Barnesville, GA. He was a captain in the U.S. Army and an award-winning member of the U.S. Army’s Marksmanship Training Unit at Ft. Benning, GA. In 1971, he won a gold medal in shooting in the world championship match of the Pan American Games. Cliff retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. last year after 30 years of service. He had been employed by AM-PAC Tire Distributors, Inc. for the last year. Cliff was an active member of the Mississippi Track Club and the 50 States Marathon Club. He was a dedicated runner, competing for many years in numerous races, including 19 marathons. Cliff is survived by his wife of 35 years, Amelia; daughter Jennifer Davis of Atlanta, GA; his sister Gail Smith of Wedowea, AL; his brother Marion D. Davis of Tampa, FL; his sister Mary Alice White of Daytona Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Track Club or American Heart Association. |
