Mr. Clarence Carter age 81, of Mt. Vernon died Tuesday July 15, 2003 at his home after a long illness. He was born on October 26, 1921 in Rockcastle County the son of the late Charles and Sudie Mae Riddle Carter. He was a Veteran of WWII, a Real Estate Developer, a former Rockcastle County Court Clerk for 12 years, operated Carter’s Market for 23 years, and was member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors are: his wife; Mrs. Louise Shields Carter of Mt. Vernon. Two sons; Jerry Warren, and Larry Dale Carter both of Mt. Vernon. One daughter; Mrs. Claretta Carter Hodges of Mt. Vernon. Three brothers; Floyd, Kenneth, and Charles E. Carter all of Mt. Vernon. Four sisters; Mrs. Elizabeth McNew, Mrs. Ione Parsons, and Mrs. Glenna Baker all of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Irene Anderkin of Mansfield, Oh. Nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by; one brother; Henry Carter, and one sister; Dicie Ford.
