Mrs. Fathia "Polly" Hurley Carpenter, age 69 of Rt. 2 Livingston, died Wednesday, July 28 at the Rockcastle Hospital following a short illness. She was born in Rockcastle County on Oct. 25, 1934 the daughter of Elihue and Lu Vernia Singleton Hurley. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calloway Holiness Church.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Saul Carpenter; five sons, Ray Carpenter (Mandy) of Brodhead, Clyde Carpenter (Denise) and Lester Carpenter (Centena), both of Livingston, Johnny Carpenter (Gladys) of Mt. Vernon, and Wayne Carpenter (Carolyn) of Lamero; eleven grandchildren, Phillip, Kevin, Charles, Jeffery, Chad, Robert, Christopher, Raymond, and Ryan Carpenter, Johnetta Ellison (Rodney), and Leslie Carpenter; and one great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Delph Ellison. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and George; and four sisters, Myrtle, Lizzie, Stella, and a twin, Dathia.
