Bowles, Jr. age 76 of Central Ave., passed away Thursday, January 26, 2006 at his home. John was born in Jackson County to the late John Dock Bowles and Stella Lakes Bowles Ambrose. He was a retired signalman for the L&N railroad and a member of Middletown Baptist Church. John is survived by his children Diane Acton of Gainsville, VA, Juanita (Rusty) Whittamore of Berea and Kenneth Edward Bowles of Berea; four sisters Betty Crutcher of Richmond, Nancy Kirk of Berea, Linda Deathridge of Richmond and Anna Mae McCollum of Berea; one brother Donnie Bowles of Mt. Vernon; two grandchildren Johnna and Brent Whittamore; and a special caregiver Bernice Abrams. In addition to his, he was also preceded in death by his wife Mae Dooley Bowles and one sister Thelma McClellan. Funeral services will be 1 pm Monday at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-9 pm Sunday evening at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea. Active pallbearers will be Rusty Whittamore, Brent Whittamore, Ricky Bowles, Jerry Bowles, Sammy Crutcher, Jason Ambrose, Scott Johnson and Tim Kirk. |
