Bird, 88, McCready Manor, Richmond, KY, died Friday, June 30, 2006 after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Catherine Bird his parents Ben and Ethel C. Bird, siblings Mary Johnson, Etta Oxley, Clarise Johnson and Fred Bird. He was a native of West Virginia, Paintsville, and Berea, KY. He was a member of the Berea United Methodist Church and the Berea Hospital Auxiliary, and Berea Masonic Lodge F & AM #617. Survivors include daughters Rebecca (Chuck) Conley, Berea, Judy (Don) Calitri, Richmond, Maggie (Wayne) Tucker, Taylor Mill, KY. Grandchildren include Cary (Kim) Conley, Melanie (Dean) Turner, Kristin (Todd) Clark, Stephen (Crystal) Calitri, Mark (Devon) Calitri, Megan and Lindsay Tucker. Great grandchildren include Caitlin, Colby and Carly Conley, Aaron and Nick Clark, Brandon and Logan Turner, Kylee Taylor, and Kody Calitri. Other survivors include brothers Isaiah Bird, Ephraim Bird, and sister Neppa Vermatt. He was preceded in death by siblings Mary, Etta, Clarice, and Fred Bird. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2006 at Lakes Funeral Home, Berea. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday evening, July 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic Rites will be administered at 7:30 pm. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
