Vernon, died Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. He was born in Boone Co., KY on Oct. 23, 1937 the son of David Henry and Margaret Ray Griffin Bevis. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Union Chapel Pentecostal Church. He is survived by his wife, Lena Alcorn Bevis; a son, Kenny Bevis of Virginia; two daughters, Barbara Jean Turner of Winchester and Robin Bevis of Boone Co.; three stepsons, Carl Griffin, James Harold Griffin, and Darrell Griffin, all of Mt. Vernon; one stepdaughter, Lorene Bostic of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Ricky Bevis of Union; four sisters, Mary Champlin or Arkansas, Goldie Todd of Dublin, GA, Joann Williams of Verona, and Frances Caudill of Moores Hill, IN; one half-sister, Vickie Bevis of Richmond; and three stepbrothers, Roger Brookover of Taylor Mill, Larry Brookover of Hebron, and Ronnie Brookover of Dayton. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. |
