E. Russell Ballinger, age 71, a dear beloved husband, father, brother and papaw, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 10, 2006 after an automobile accident. He was the pastor of First Faith Independent Church for over 27 years and a part-time painter. He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Bessie Broadus Ballinger of Berea; daughters, Debbie Ballinger (Frank) Powell and Joanne Ballinger of Berea; sons, Dwayne Litton (Anne) Ballinger of Berea and Russell “Rusty” (Kim) Ballinger of Gallipolis, Ohio; step son, Jerry Gabbard of Berea; sisters, Rilda (Charles) Baker of Conway and Minnie Huff of Morraine, Ohio; brothers, Johnnie (Rita) Ballinger and Alfred (Mary) Ballinger of Berea, Wayne (Phyllis) Ballinger of Mt. Vernon; sister-in-law, Faye Ballinger of Berea; Grandchildren, Cooper Ballinger, Martin Powell, Chad Ballinger, Bagdad, Iraq, Brooke Hensley, Elyse Litton, Marshal Litton, Amelia Burkhart, Valarie Baker and Zack Gabbard. 5 Great Grandchildren also survive along with a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by: parents, John and Annas Ballinger; step-son, Larry Gabbard; brother, Tony Ballinger and a brother-in-law, Earl Huff. Funeral services for Rev. Ballinger will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at First Faith Independent Church with Rev. Elzie Doan officiating. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9-9 Thursday at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to his church. Pallbearers will be Bill Broadus, Conley Broadus, Sam Broadus, Johnnie Ballinger, Alfred Ballinger and Wayne Ballinger. |
