Ballard of Berea passed away on Tuesday morning Nov. 22, 2005 at the Pattie A Clay Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Rella was a home maker, charter member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church and a long time quilter with the Mt. Zion Quilters group. Rella was born on April 28, 1914 in Rockcastle County, KY. Rella was preceded in death by her father Robert O’Neal and mother Maxie Paris and son Ralph Gene Ballard and Sister Sally Newell. In addition to her husband of 68 years she is survived by two sons William R. (Peggy) Ballard of Berea and George E. (Betty) Ballard of Princeton, KY. A daughter in law Betty C. Ballard of Berea. Surviving grandchildren are Jo Ann Webb, Todd (Roxy) Ballard, Terri Spillman, Mike (Ann) Ballard, Kathy Ballard, Eric (Jodi) Ballard and Ellen Ballard. Eight great grandchildren also survive. A special thank you to her care givers as well as those who took care of her while in the hospital. Funeral services for Rella will be Saturday Nov. 26, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Taylor Sr. Rev. Ed Cortez and Rev. Earl Van Winkle. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday Nov. 25, 2005 at Lakes Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Donations in Memory of Rella Ballard may be made to the Kentucky Baptist Children’s Home.
