Vernon, died Tuesday, Sep. 6, 2005 at the Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility in Berea. She was born in Rockcastle County on Oct. 15, 1913 the daughter of Melvin and Rachel Creech Jennings. She was a retired custodian for Miami of Ohio University at Oxford, enjoyed sewing, and was of the Pentecostal Faith. She is survived by a son, Ray Abney of Somerset; two sisters, Sinnie Shell of Wilmington, OH and Nancy Roddy of Richmond, IN; three grandchildren, Kenneth Abney of Somerset, Sheila Keith (Greg) of Bronston, and Beverly Abney of Lexington; two great grandchildren, Justin Abney (Mandy) of Somerset and Candace Michelle Abney of Falmouth; and one great-great granddaughter, Madison Paige Abney of Somerset. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Abney; her parents, Melvin and Rachel Creech Jennings; five sisters, Ella Jennings Scott, Francis Jennings Miller, Myrtle Jennings Bond, Hazel Jennings VanZant, and Dorothy Jennings Abney; and three brothers, Arthur Jennings, Gilbert Jennings, and Clewella Jennings. |
