Garner and Vreeland House Recollections

by Lamora Magdaleno

Picture is of the Vreeland house [house on right]. The Garner house was beyond, and [hardly] visible in this photo. Mrs. Vreeland befriended me when I was first married, and became a favorite person through the years. She had an interesting garden, with some unusual flowers and trees. Mr. Vreeland often leaned on that front gate in early evening, smoking his pipe and just enjoying the night air.
The GARNER house was built in 1945, just after WWII, and was restricted in size by government regulations -- a certain number of square feet per person was allowed. The family included [Ray & Nella and] son Russ, then age 14. These were my parents, and my brother. [not referring to persons in picture]

See also other picture of Garner house. Showing Ray Garner working on the construction of his garage. And here's one showing Russ Garner's 1940 La Salle parked in front of the house.
