The State of Texas. Know all men by these presents that

County of Hunt, Whereas The Board of Trustees of the

[blank space] Methodist Episcopal Church South located

at Greenville, Hunt Co. Texas, having organized according to

law on the 4th day of Jany 1870 the record of which

is duly recorded in Book M, page 132, Hunt County

Records, at a meeting held on the [blank space] day of Sept 1874,

passed an order and had the same entered of record,

In the minutes of the proceedings of said Board, to sell

the property herein after described for and in considera-

tion of the sum of Thirty five hundred Dollars, to

be paid by the County of Hunt as follows, towit

Twelve Hundred Dollars, to be cash in hand paid, by

said County delivering and selling to said church

the material in the Brick Building on the Pub-

lic Square known as “The Court House” of Hunt

County which said house said Trustees hereby take

and accept in full satisfaction and payment

of said sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars, the receipt

of which is here acknowledged ~ And the further

sum of Five Hundred Dollars, evidenced by draft

drawn on the County Treasurer of Hunt County to be

paid out of the “Special Improvement Fund” of Hunt

County, due Dec 1st 1874, without interest is-

sued by the Clerk of the County Court of Hunt County

by order of Court passed and approved Sept 9th 1874

at a call term that day held.  And the further sum

of Eighteen Hundred Dollars, evidenced by eighteen

drafts of one hundred dollars each due and

payable Dec 1st 1875, with interest from Dec 1st

1874, at the rate of 10 per cent per annum,

to be paid out of said fund, and issued as

aforesaid, the said sums making the said amount

of thirty Five Hundred Dollars ~ and

 

         Whereas, the said County Court of Hunt County

at a call term held Sept 9th 1874, the Hon J. R.

Balchroft Presiding Justice presiding, and George

W. Tatom, George F. Sartain and W. M. G. Raudle

Justice of the Peace being all present passed

and approved an order, which is recorded on

page 278 of the Minutes of the County Court of Hunt

County agreeing to buy said property hereinafter de-

scribed from the Trustees of said church, at said terms,

and to sell said Court House building at said price

to said trustees.

 

Said therefore, we, J. Scoonover, President and

J. F. Jenkins, J. A. Balchroft, A. G. Pace, A. Anderson,

J. S. Alexander, G. N. Worsham, W. W. Stockwell, R.

Harrell, the Board of Trustees of the Methodist Epi-

copal Church South located at Greenville in Hunt Co.

Texas, for and in consideration of said sum of Thirty

Five Hundred Dollars, to be paid as aforsaid,

The receipts of which is hereby acknowledged, here

this day and do by these presents bargain

Tatom, John W. McGuffin, W. M. G. Raudle, Jus-

Tices of the Peace in and for Hunt County Texas

And Ex. Office Members of the County Court

board of said County, and their successors in office

for the use and benefit of Hunt county, the following

described property towit. Lot No. Four and the

West half of Lot No. Five in Block No Seven

in the Corporation of the Town of Greenville

said state and county, as set forth in the

plat of said town duly recorded in Book

I, pages 242 & 243 Hunt County Records, de-

scription of which is more particularly

given in the deed from Jim Tarr and

wife to said Church Trustees, recorded in

Book D. page 31, 32 & 33 Hunt Co. Records,

to which reference is here made.

 

To have and to hold said property to-

gether with all and singular the appur-

tenances thereto belonging or appertaining

to said Hunt county, and it assigns

forever in fee simple.

 

And we, the said Board of Trustees do

hereby bind ourselves, and our successors

in office to forever warrant and defend

the title of said property to the said Hunt

County, and its assigns against the law-

ful claims of any person or persons whatever.

they signed,  executed and delivered the foregoing instrument in writing, for the purposes and considerations therein specified.
