    A Funeral Mass will be said for 69-year Bishop resident John Esteban Manterola, 98, on Friday, Aug. 11, 10 a.m., at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Msgr. Gilbert R. Meyer will officiate.
    A Rosary was said Thursday at the church and visitation was also held.
    Mr. Manterola was born in Yanci, Spain on Nov. 15, 1896. A World War I veteran of the U. S. Army, he owned and operated the Texaco gasoline station on the corner of Grove and Main streets in Bishop for 26 years. He was a member
of the Bishop Lions Club. Mr. Manterola died Aug. 8 at his home in Bishop.
    Survivors include his brothers, Claudio Manterola of Navarra, Spain, Jesus Manterola of Guipuzcoa, Spain, and Angel Manterola of Guipuzcoa, Spain; a niece and her husband, Carmen and Salvador Giminez of Pasco, Wash.; a nephew
and his wife, John and Mary Manterola of Othello, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews in Spain, France and Argentina.
    Mr. Manterola was one of 12 children. He was preceded in death by three brothers, six sisters, and his wife, Audine Manterola.
    Interment will be at the West Line Street Cemetery.
