Obituary

--
The funeral of Mrs. Emily I. Huckaby, a resident of Laws for 37 years, occurred Tuesday afternoon from Albright's chapel. Mrs. Huckaby passed away Monday, just a month after the death of her sister, Mrs. Johnson, of Independence.
Mrs. Huckaby was born in Indiana January 6, 1859, and March 10, 1874, was married in that State to George Huckaby, who died here years ago. They with other members of the family crossed the plains by wagon, and October 26, 1874,
camped at Love's bridge on Owens river, their date of entry into the valley which was to be their home thereafter.
Mrs. Huckaby was one who was helpful whenever her kindly spirit was called on to aid the suffering or unfortunate near her, Ten children were born to her, of whom seven survive. They are Frank Huckaby, of Fallon, Charles
Huckaby, of Gridley, Cal., Mrs. Alice Bunting, of Lone Pine, Claude Huckaby, Mrs. Ella Dehy and Mrs. Florence Smith, of Laws, and Raymond Huckaby, of Bishop. A sister, Mrs. Lou Middleton, resides at Highland Park, and two brothers, Vernon G. Smith and
Daniel Smith, live at Big Pine and Bridgeport respectively.
Interment was in the Pioneer cemetery, with those of the family who have gone before. She leaves eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services were conducted by Rev. E. D. Hillis.
