This house was built in 1896 if the inscription on the fireplace is accurate.  The original owner is not known at this time nor is the owner who purchased the house as a result of the 1915 ad.  In the early thirty's Mr. George Trombetta purchased the house and started his carnation business.  Mr. Trombetta started constructing his "hot houses"  buy purchasing used houses from around the area.  By the time he finished, he had seven of these units for growing carnations.  Trombetta's, as it was known,  was known as the "Carnation King" throughout country.  He(George) grew most of the carnations used for all occasions.  They were shipped all over the United States and he won many awards for his flowers.  There were two young men in his employ, brothers Jim and Mike McCarthy.  In 1989 Jim and Mike McCarthy purchased the property and started their own business now known as Midland Graphics.  They too are well known and ship their goods all over the U.S..

The property may have originally occupied more than the three acres advertised, however at the time of the 1915 sale, the land was encompassed by Rt 20, Curtis Ave. and Hildreth St. and abutted the back of the original Hildreth St. School which faced Hildreth St.
